A new kind of hotel suite has launched in East London that will appeal to our plant-loving community. Three designers and botanists have taken the challenge to completely re-design a hotel suite each, around the ‘nature’ theme, also known as ‘biophilic’ design. And the results are incredible! That means loads of houseplants and some even more unusual things!
The Concept of the Planty Hotel Suites
Three designers and botanists have taken the challenge to completely re-design a hotel suite each, around the ‘nature’ theme, also known as ‘biophilic’ design. And the results are incredible! That means loads of houseplants and some even more unusual things! These planty hotel suites are a plant lover's dream come true. For maybe the first time in the hotel world, plants are taking center stage - there are plants everywhere- mimicking features to help guests maintain a connection with nature during their stay in the city.
Each designer gave a personal touch to the suites they had to redesign. Nik Southern went for Romance, Oliver Heath for Productivity, and Michael Perry for a Tranquil atmosphere. Find out what the centerpiece of each room is and get some nature-loving inspiration for your own home with our biophilic design hacks below. The Living Jungle Hotel Suites are an original concept from the collaboration of thejoyofplants.co.uk, the Leman Locke aparthotel, and three world-class botanical designers.
The Romance Suites - Designed by Nik Southern
A sensual and wrapping nest with jungly notes. The main feature in the first of the planty hotel suites is a natural plant canopy suspended from the bedroom ceiling, lit by a romantic soft pink light. The suite comes with more amazing features, like an aphrodisiac cocktail, plant ASMR videos, and a romantic playlist during your stay. Signature plants used in this hotel room design are the anthurium black love plant (anthurium hybrid) and Epipremnum marble queen (Epipremnum aureum).
The Productivity Suites - Designed by Oliver Heath
An energizing hotel suite with a workspace that helps you focus in the heart of London. Perfect for freelance and business travelers who have a thing for plants! The main feature of this suite is harnessing the power of the forest with dwarf mountain palms naturally moving their delicate stems to the rhythm of the airflow in the room. Lavender is added in the bedroom to increase recuperation. Surround yourself in this gorgeous space with Boston ferns (nephrolepis) and snake plants (sansevieria trifasciata), which are carefully chosen because they release oxygen at night.
The Tranquil Suites - Designed by Michael Perry
A cozy home away from home, that invites you to take a relaxing break away from the chaos. The main feature of this planty hotel suite is the bathroom plant wall. Suction pots are cleverly fitted onto the wall, and filled with tropical plants that thrive in the bathroom's natural humidity. Another cool feature is the live moss rug in the living area. A wonderfully quirky experiment that is so fun to step onto with bare feet!
