About Lewis Miller Design
In our studio, on any given day, you will find one dog barking, six languages being spoken and a loyal and inspired crew. The LMD staff is a gorgeous, kind-hearted bunch, contributing creatively to all aspects of the design process. Listening to a mix of jazz, hip hop and Madonna, and always working diligently on our latest up-and-coming project, get to know them here.
Nothing quite says “You’re special” as flowers do, and as a reminder to New Yorkers that they are, the team over at floral and event design studio Lewis Miller Design have been turning phone booths, dumpsters, monuments, garbage cans, subway entrances and street corners into gigantic flower vases.
The project, aptly titled Flower Flash, made its debut in October 2016 — quietly, may we add, as the Lewis Miller Design team usually get to work on their installations at the crack of dawn, while the city still sleeps. The immense flower arrangements, repurposed from the studio’s past events, get a second chance to be admired, and often taken home, by city dwellers.
Call it a flower pop-up, a guerrilla installation, or just a well-needed dose of good cheer: it’s an amazing project that reminds us why New York is one of the greatest cities in the world. “Flower Flash is our gift to New Yorkers,” the floral studio say. “Our goal is to create a positive, emotional response through flowers.”
