It all started with a special wedding dress

It all Started with a Skirt

A future bride came to my studio and said: you were recommended to me as you do so many different bouquets. So, I want you to design and create my elopement bouquet. I don’t want to know in advance what it will be. Just look at me and I will show you my skirt so you can decide about the bouquet’
What Is Eloping? To elope means to get married without telling anyone, especially the parents and families. Eloping is not an uncommon practice or taboo these days. In fact, some couples even choose romantic places or interesting destinations to elope to. This can make the celebration both cheap and merry.

Eloping, and a Special Wedding Dress

I looked at her and I saw green hair, a happy face and a young girl who trusted me a hundred percent. Still, I asked her what colors she likes or if she has a favorite flower. She didn’t want to answer this question repeting that she was expecting a wow and unique bouquet and she sent me immediately a picture with her skirt and her sneakers.   Ice Cream Bouquet by Laura Draghici - on Thursd. Wedding Dress   The skirt was kind of ‘Uhh, I understand nothing about this skirt at first sight’ :)) but I didn’t say anything. The skirt had so much colors so I wondered ‘Oh, my God! What to do? What flowers, what texture, and what kind of shape should I choose to go with that skirt?’ She also send me a picture with the groom jacket and sneakers. I looked at her skirt, over and over again. I understood that it was an important, perhaps the most important and the principal piece of her outfit for her ‘wedding day’. Perhaps she did not have a real wedding dress because of the pandemic period. Or was it something else? Being so important for her, that skirt, I decided to make a bouquet with an ice cream shape because on that skirt there were some styled ice creams.

So, what did I do?

I bought some real ice cream cones and I attached them to a cardboard cone with hot glue. This way, I created the shape of an ice cream but then bigger. I had the idea to paint them with some watercolors for kids. I mixed the colors in order to have the skirt colors and I attached inside the cardboard some tubes with water to make sure the flowers are in water and stay fresh. You can imagine how much fun I had, knowing that the future bride knows nothing about her bouquet with Ice Cream cones, a true Ice Cream Bouquet!

It's Time to Show the Ice Cream Bouquet

The big day came, and I waited impatiently for her to come. Can't wait to see the look in her eyes when she sees the bouquet. And wow, that moment when I offered her the bouquet in the shape of an ice cream, a perfect match with her favorite skirt, with fresh flowers as ice cream cups,..that was some moment. It was very special to me!   Ice Cream Bouquet by Laura Draghici - on Thursd. Wedding   She was thrilled with amazement, delight and pleasure! She took the bouquet in her hands and it brought tears of happiness! With me too.   Ice Cream Bouquet by Laura Draghici - on Thursd. Kissing the bride   I worked on that bouquet a lot, but to see that moment, that special occasion, when the bride saw it and was so happy with her Ice Cream bouquet, it for sure was well worth the effort.   Ice Cream Bouquet by Laura Draghici - on Thursd.
