From a Bank Manager to a Florist

Laura Draghici: "From a manager of a bank to a florist. That’s my story in short. Being an economist with a Bachelor in Finance and Banks and an international EMBA degree in business, I left my well-paid job at the bank and started my own flower business seven years ago. I was convinced that my passion for flowers would be my success. And so it was, it is and it will be!

Mother's Day by Laura Draghici

I am the happy blooming owner of a wonderful flower workshop in Ploiesti, Romania, about 60 km from Bucharest, the capital of the country. In this period of Corona my shop is closed, but I have found ways to work and create. I worked from home with what I found in my garden. I used this period to create, to participate in different online flower competitions, and also to let people know me on media from my flower perspective. I also used this time for reading about flowers, preparing for my advanced EMC exams, trying to design arrangements that I could only dream about in busy times because of the lack of free time.

The Big Lesson from COVID-19

Anyway, this crisis and its consequences - like having no flowers - taught me a big lesson: you don’t need lots of flowers. All you need is creativity. ‘Make heaven with what you’ve got’ is a Romanian expression. So this is what I did. I am preparing designs for Mother’s Day with what I’ve got. I had a mineral water bottle, some wire, and a few flowers... :) Because this time of our life is different, we create a floral expression called 'Different'.
