In her 'Dark Night' photography series, artist Sophia Ahamed manages to blur the lines of reality and imagination through her exploration of mesmerizing color palettes. Ahamed combines this with her love of nature, creating a project that presents a series of flowers with stunning night skies as their background.
Dreamy Flowers Take Center Stage in the Dark Night Photography Series
The dreamy works that center around seasonal blooms at their best stage, have a soothing effect and allow the viewer to dive into the deeper recess of the imagination. Each element of every photograph is shot separately and then layered together into new compositions, full of tranquility and peace.
"We associate color with how we perceive the world around us, memories, and emotion," the artist says. 'Oftentimes, these elements can act as a gentle escape into something more soothing."
Sprouted From Personal Grief and Loss
Sophia Ahamed, also known for her role as design director at the Vancouver-based agency Monograph & Co says that the Dark Night photography series sprouted from her personal grief and loss, as can be noticed in the melancholic theme of her works. From her sadness, incredible depth has bloomed.
"If I’ve learned anything on this journey, from a personal lens,” says Sophia Ahamed, “it’s that there’s a lot to come from doing difficult things and going through difficult things."
