Thursd has an annual tradition of selecting the Thursd Floral Trend Color of the Year that not only shows the color trend for the coming year in the flower industry but also embodies a particular theme. In previous years these themes were Scorched Earth (2021), with a Golden Yellow trend color, Building Bridges (2022), with the trend color Genuine Pink, and the theme of Passion going with the Passion Red color, the Passion throughout the whole chain of our beloved floral industry (2023).
2024's theme is “The Sky Is the Limit” with not one, but two trend colors; Sky Blue (#4baeff), and Bright White (#ffffff). The colors blue and white represent boundless aspirations.
The Thursd Floral Trend Color of the Year 2024
Trendsetting is something that doesn’t come in a few weeks, at least not for most of us… It grows, from day to day, by experiences, by everything that happens in your surroundings, and on a global level, it’s guided by emotions. Flowers and plants are an important part of our lives. They make us happy and happiness makes us healthy. Nature is our foundation. All those emotions are captured in a Thursd Floral Trend Color of the Year.
Our best days begin when they are filled with the colors of the sky - the endless blue that stretches like a canvas above, and the pure white of the fluffy clouds that dance upon it. These colors symbolize the boundless possibilities that life has to offer.
Sky Blue and Bright White - Beyond Aesthetics
Many of us are drawn to the colors of the sky - blue and white. They remind us of the limitless possibilities that life holds. In the vibrant world of floriculture, the significance of sky blue and bright white skies extends far beyond mere aesthetics; they play a pivotal role in nurturing a thriving and conducive environment for optimal growth and blossoming. A blue sky, with its bright light, not only enhances the visual appeal of outdoor landscapes but also provides an essential source of natural light for photosynthesis, the lifeblood of plants. And people.
A bright white (cloud), on the other hand, amplifies the benefits of diffused sunlight. If the clouds consist mainly of small droplets and ice crystals, sunlight can enter them relatively easily and is then scattered diffusely. These kinds of clouds appear bright white. This soft, evenly distributed light promotes uniform growth, bolstering the development of sturdy stems and lush foliage.
Furthermore, clear skies contribute to a balanced climate, fostering a healthy balance of warmth and coolness that is conducive to the well-being of flowers and plants and all mankind.
In the realm of floriculture, we seek the Floral Trend Colors of 2024, Sky Blue and Bright White, as they symbolize more than just atmospheric conditions – they represent the promise of abundant vitality and the potential for a flourishing world. As stewards of nature's beauty, we understand the profound impact these sky tones have on the health and vibrancy of not only our floral companions but also make us happy and energetic. Inspiring us to cultivate environments that reflect the pure essence.
A Promise for the Future
You can spend your mornings watching the sunrise, and then, when the sky transforms from a dark shade of indigo to a brilliant sky blue, it is as if the heavens are repainting their masterpiece. Every day. The air is crisp and invigorating, carrying with it the promise of a new beginning. And that is what we need, yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Always and always. New beginnings every day. Gazing at the expanse above, imagining ourselves soaring through the sky like a bird, worries left far behind on the ground. That is what floral designing and creating is all about. And this is what the Thursd Floral Trend Color 2024 represents:
Start new and fresh every day. With an open mind and creative mindset. The two colors speak of purity, serenity, and the courage to reach for the heavens, they remind us that just like the sky, our dreams have no limits.
White and Blue it is… The Thursd Floral Trend Color of the Year 2024 is not one color, it’s a blend of two colors. Throughout the entire year, you can have a treasure trove of flowers in every shade of blue and white imaginable.
Flowers in Sky Blue and Bright White
Flowers that jump into our minds are blue irises, forget-me-nots, and delicate white daisies. Also, delphiniums, clematis, and all the white roses. Many flowers exist in white. Each flower seems to hold a piece of the sky's essence, and it brings a sense of fulfillment in creating arrangements that capture the beauty of the world above.

The sky, with its vastness and ever-changing hues, is a reflection of the human journey - filled with highs and lows, but always holding the promise of something greater.
Regine Motmans (Floral Connector at Thursd):
"The tradition of the Thursd Floral Trend Color of the Year continues. I found myself working on this trend color intensively, and I talked with many floral designers. I’m convinced that the current time we live in, asks for blue skies. I looked up at the sky one evening last week and smiled. The colors of the sunset - the soft blues, the warm oranges, and the gentle golden yellow - seemed to encapsulate the essence of my journey up until now. The sky is still the limit, and I’m determined to continue reaching for it."
Sky Palette
The sky is indeed a canvas of dreams. It reflects the beauty and potential that lie within us all. Nature gives us all the colors we need. So the trend pallet should hold these natural colors the sky can give us: Sky Blue, Bright White, Night Blue, and earthy colors Dark Brown, Sunset Orange, and Sunrise Yellow.
The colors of Sky Palette are more than pigments; they are emotions painted across the sky. The delicate blues evoke serenity and calm, while oranges and yellows stir warmth deep within. Even the night blue and earthy brown bring a sense of wonder and mystery, reminding us that in life's uncertainties, there lies hidden beauty.
