Also known as the 'Christmas orchid' or 'Flor de Mayo
Cattleya Trianae, also known as the 'Christmas orchid' or 'Flor de Mayo (May Flower) has been the national flower of Colombia since November 1936. This exquisite, lavender beauty is the embodiment of the word orchid. It’s frilly, it’s perfectly proportioned, and its color is divine. The lip is yellow, blue and red, in the same way as the Colombian flag.
Cattleya trianae grows in the cloud forests of the Andes and is considered endangered because of shrinking habitat.
