They've done it once again. Over and over, Vo Trong Nghia Architects do not fail in impressing their audience and everyone who is over the moon about architectural structures involving nature. This distinctive bamboo dome will awe you with a stately view.
Picturesque Bamboo Dome Built in 2020 by Vo Trong Nghia Architects
Although the installation was built in 2020, the impact of the projects designed by Vo Trong Nghia Architects will always have a distinctive impact on those who love traveling, architecture, and a fusion with nature.
This installation does look a bit surreal, given that the main dome is made of bamboo as the main material, and looks like it's in the middle of "nowhere", a place many of us would like to get lost in. All the details you need to know about the project are right below.
Vo Trong Nghia Architects Share Special Characteristics of the Bamboo Dome
Vietnamese studio Vo Trong Nghia Architects has created a 16-meter-high and 18-meter-tall bamboo dome for the Vedana Restaurant, which is built over an artificial lake facing the mountains in Vietnam. The bamboo dome is known as the tallest construction yet by skilled architects from the Va Trong Nghia group.
It is no surprise that the architects love working with bamboo and specialize in creating out-of-this-world buildings in-between nature. Precise Location of This Bamboo Gem
Vedana Restaurant is the centerpiece of the Vedana Resort – a holiday complex nestled in Cuc Phuong National Park, Vietnam's largest nature reserve. It's as if you were floating in the middle of the dreamiest setting to relax your mind and body among the natural pleasures of life.
The restaurant serves the resort's 1,350 guests and can also be made available for weddings. Could you imagine a wedding at the heart of this bamboo dome? A once in a lifetime experience.
Meet the Interior of the Bamboo Dome by vo Trong Nghia Architects
Both the outside facade and the interior are breathtaking, but the interior has a few different designs that will leave you stunned. To start the design off, three concentric thatched rings form a stepped profile reminiscent of traditional Vietnamese roofs.
Although it appears to be three separate gabled structures, the dome is actually a single structure made of 36 bamboo modules. Following the general structures, there is also an oculus at the apex of the dome that creates a shaft of light through the center, highlighting the flower-like pattern created by the intersecting arcs of bamboo.
At the colonnaded base, the restaurant opens out onto the lake. As well as making for a pretty view, the lake acts as a natural air conditioner during hot and humid summers, cooling the air as the water evaporates from its surface.
Vo Trong Nghia Architects Build Sustainable Installations
All of their projects involve a dose of sustainability because they like to care about the planet one building at a time. And even more when it's surrounded by natural resources that can help reduce the waste and footprints on the planet.
In the bamboo dome by Vo Trong Nghia Architects, the rainwater and runoff from the mountains collect in the lake, which is also used to irrigate the trees and plants that grow around the resort – including 15,000 blossom trees that were planted especially.
Trees in round planters are also set into the lake around the perimeter of Vedana Restaurant.
What Other Buildings Do You Know by Vo Trong Architects?
They are doubtlessly a very skillful group of architects that have in mind the future of the planet. Always looking for more sustainable processes, materials, and overall construction practices, Vo Trong Nghia Architects is certainly taking a lead in Vietnamese architecture. What other buildings from the architecture firm do you know of?
