Decorum Plants & Flowers has pulled out all the stops with their collaboration with the Floral Art Championship of Belgium and the simultaneously held Féerie Florale event. From September 27 to 30, 2024 the castle of Alden Biesen was the playground of floral adepts from Belgium and abroad. The impressive buildings and grounds contributed fantastically to the mystical atmosphere. In combination with the colorful flowers and plants, the visitors felt like being in a kind of Alice in Wonderland world where a new surprise could be found around every corner. Here is a report.
Féerie Florale
‘Féerie Florale’ (which translates into 'Floral Magic') was a true spectacle and a must-go-to for anyone who loves flower arranging. The event offered a stage for floral designers and stylists from Belgium and abroad. Decorum Plants & Flowers sponsored the event with a beautiful selection from its wide range of floricultural products.
The castle of Alden Biesen – the former land commandery in Bilzen, Limburg – was entirely transformed into a true flower show during these days.
In addition to the event, Decorum is also sponsoring individual floral artists including Tom de Houwer, Gabor Nagy, and Iza Tkaczyk.
Floral Demonstrations
Despite the weather, Féerie Florale was very well attended. Every floral artist presented six showcases a day, at which a hundred people could enter the indoor halls. No need to explain all shows were completely packed.
European champion flower arranging and Decorum Ambassador Hanneke Frankema was present to give a demonstration to a big crowd. Hanneke had her own flower shop for ten years, and nowadays she works completely freelance and gives demonstrations, lessons, and shows. Hanneke travels the world to demonstrate, teach, and inspire. Her creations are dominated by the use of color, the implementation of special techniques, and a perfectionist sense of detail.
Many photos and videos were taken and Hanneke let the visitors admire everything up close. On the edge of the stage, everything was put on display, so that the florist fans could go home full of inspiration afterward.
Belgium Floral Art Championship
During Féerie Florale, the Belgian Floral Art Championship also took place. While the grounds and buildings of Alden Biesen were in full bloom on Friday the 27th of September, the championship venue was in the 'Cuvelier'. In this special hall, Decorum again showed what it has to offer.
The common denominator of the participants and Decorum is, among other things, their craftsmanship and eye for detail. All twelve contestants showed a special talent for conveying emotions and stories through creative expressions in flower arranging. It goes without saying that they clearly share a passion for flowers and plants and that is exactly where Decorum joins in as a sponsor of ‘Féerie Florale’ and the Championship.
More than fifty Dutch growers work hard every day to grow the most beautiful flowers and plants. All family businesses, many of the third or fourth generation. The Decorum growers work together on a brand that stands for quality, innovation, and sustainability. For over twenty-five years already that brand is Decorum.
Decorum believes in pure perfection and wants to make the world happy with responsible, beautiful flowers and plants. To make people happy and inspired with beautiful flowers and plants, produced with passion, specially selected and combined tailor-made.
Award Ceremony
The highlight of that evening was the award ceremony of the Belgian Floral Art Championship. The participants were judged by two juries. An 'overall' jury and a technical jury. From the technical jury, only one candidate emerged from the competition without penalty points and that was also the winner: Chantal Post. With Chantal, Decorum has once again gained a talented ambassador. She received various prizes from the sponsors of the Belgian Championship.
Of course, Decorum will also sponsor Chantal during the World Cup Floral Art 2025, in which Chantal will participate as a representative of Belgium.
