Peter van Delft often reaches out to me to work with new flowers and new varieties. Flowers have been my life, their different colors and delicate petals are a constant source of inspiration. From the moment I went into the world of floristry, I knew that my path was intertwined with the emotions and beauty that blooms possess.
Using classical techniques with contemporary organic materials is a means to an end to making floral designs with a signature. To bring cultures together in design often is my mission and I'm grateful to see it happen. People call it Gregor Lersch's signature style. I've worked with Rose Diya's Fire for my design this time: her landmark is vitality and activity, that's what I think when I see it.
My Fascination for Flowers
I was the fifth generation in my family to train as a horticulturist. Already soon after my education I shifted to flowers and focused on teaching and competing nationally and internationally. In my career, many minimalistic creations and displays were made, but also huge installations, featuring thousands of flowers.
At one point I chose for the many aspects of floristry teaching. When having a class of young flower lovers, I try to teach about mechanics, techniques, organic materials, shape and composition, horticulture, principles and elements, the golden ratio, and overall design. I educate on design styles popular in Europe and around the world. This knowledge can be used to modernize your daily work, bring cultures together, and elevate your brand.
Over the past 30 years, I published a lot of books hoping to inspire and make floristry evolve. Flowers are nature's poetry, captivating us with their charm and the feelings that they give. The character of each bloom, from its scent to its unique hue, holds a certain power. I realized that my true passion lies in the beauty of flowers: every flower is an individual, and this variety from Decofresh, grown by Diya brings fire to your design. So I want to share my personal journey with Rose Diya's Fire.
The Allure of Roses Under My Lens
I love all the flowers that grace our planet, and roses hold a special place. Their timeless elegance, captivating fragrance, and velvety petals have the ability to bring emotions and create unforgettable moments. The rose symbolizes love, beauty, and the essence of life itself. I love it when I'm in a class with students showing the new possibilities with every flower.
Creating My Design With Rose Diya's Fire
As I was given Diya's Fire roses by Decofresh, I was really able to show how unbelievably strong and long-lasting this rose is. As I always process my flowers well before I use them, these roses gave me three weeks of pleasure. Of course, it was April when I received them, with perfectly cool temperatures, especially at night. But still, so good when flowers stay this long.
Additionally, Rose Diya's Fire color combination works well to 'bridge' the reds, yellows, and colors around and in between. Not only does this rose work great for summer combinations to enhance any available arrangement or space at home but it's also a real autumn choice. So perfect for future seasons. Rose Diya's Fire appears fresh and very vital and is not blurred, which is something I usually love very much. No spots on the petals from the waterdrops, which is fabulous. I can end my review of this rose by saying that this rose's landmark is its vitality and activity. That's what it immediately portrays when I see these roses.
Creating and Experimenting With New Flowers
Creating and experimenting with new flowers knows no end. Through collaboration with breeders and growers, I have been fortunate to develop and introduce exclusive hybrids that possess extraordinary characteristics. These new varieties allow me to craft designs that captivate the senses and leave a lasting impression. The opportunity to work with these blooms fills me with joy and inspires me to continuously innovate and surprise.
Becoming a Flower Crafter in the Industry
Becoming one of the leading floral designers in the industry, (they say) has been a journey fueled by relentless dedication and unwavering passion. I have strived to perfect my craft, continuously learning and evolving with each arrangement I create. And my biggest passion is to share this knowledge with my students. As a teacher, I can say that I love my profession. And I hope for many more years to come.
This experience with Rose Diya's Fire has provided me with a deep sense of exploring different colors and knowing that these bold hues make the perfect match for warmer seasons. Each design becomes a symphony of colors and shapes, telling a story that captures the essence of the occasion or evokes specific emotions.
