The Rose Festival in a beautiful garden near a palace in Lithuania, at the invitation of my dear friend Kristina Rimienė, was a project forever etched in my heart. I was invited to my first international project, joined by my dear fellow masters who had, just days earlier, created a floral project with me at the Castle in Otmuchów, Poland. Tired but full of creativity, love for flowers, and passion for people, I was determined to make it worth it!
Bringing Kristina Rimiene's Project to Life
Four of us traveled to Kristina’s project (The Rose Festival in Paežeriai)— myself, Beata from Canada, Ania from the USA, and Regine from Belgium. We were warmly welcomed by the palace director, Odette, and the entire local community. I was truly enchanted by the beauty of the place — the architecture of the palace surrounded by a mysterious garden.
I Fell in Love With the Trees!
Ancient trees reigned here, telling stories of the past through their majestic presence, whispering about the people who had lived beautiful moments of their lives in this very place. Kristina, along with her invaluable assistants, showed us the structures we had selected. Together, we chose meaningful spots where we would express our floral stories. While wandering through the stunning garden, I discovered, in a quiet, hidden corner, a magnificent tree.
In the evening and at night, I was mesmerized by the mystery of this natural monument. Illuminated in various colors, it revealed different aspects of its uniqueness. The tree motif has been deeply important to me throughout my 15-year journey of passion and love.
My Project: The String of Beauty
I am so grateful to Kristina for allowing me to bring to life my project in this special place, with the theme: 'The String of Beauty'.
Feeling the atmosphere and the beauty of the location, I decided that my “string” would gently embrace the form of this chosen exceptional tree, creating harmony from afar with the palace. When creating floral designs, I need to work in harmony with the surroundings.
Roses in Different Shades
The rich variety of flowers delivered by Astra Fund, sponsored by the Floral Industry Hub, was beautifully prepared by Kristina. They allowed me to dress "The String of Beauty" in the queen of flowers, roses, in different shades and varieties. At the heart of my installation was the mirror of beauty, and within the garden of red and fuchsia roses, two Vanda Orchids stood embraced in strong contrast.
The lightness of statice flowers brought in softness and delicacy. The final moment of creating my piece was magical — a beautiful butterfly appeared and lingered for a while, as if it wanted to play on the string, and in doing so, share its beauty.
And so, the story written with heart and flowers was born — The String of Beauty, a symbol of gratitude for Kristina’s invitation, the hospitality of our gracious hosts, and the support of our assistants.
A Huge Thanks to Kristina
Kristina, thank you so much for inviting me to your spectacular international project. Thank you, my dearest Beata, Ania, and Regine, for another wonderful shared project that will forever remain part of the story of my life.
For fifteen years, I have followed the path of passion and love for people and flowers. The Rose Festival in Lithuania, this project, alongside international masters — whom I’ve had the honor to work with before — was an extraordinary project, created most of all by florists with beautiful, sensitive, and kind hearts.
That is the key to unforgettable projects — because people everywhere are waiting for the beauty of flowers and the beauty of the human spirit.
Thank you for everything — and see you again
