A Name That Reminds Me...
Pina colada is a very interesting name and it reminds me of warm sunsets in summer and glowing fire in winter. This association definitely had to become my starting point for my creation with chrysanthemum Pina Colada Yellow that I received from grower MG Grand for Zentoo and the Pina Colada Cream and white varieties from Fred van Paassen/VannoVa.
A Direct Visual Appeal
I wanted to create something that has a direct visual appeal, nothing too complicated. The three shades of these chrysanthemums are just right in recreating a warm and light atmosphere.
I massed them to form a wreath with a degrading effect from white gradually transitioning into a deep yellow. I find it warm and welcoming. On this base, I have put in roses Quicksand, caramel dianthus, dyed ruscus, as well as yellow ilex.
The result is a somewhat oriental feeling set against a geometric backdrop. The colors of these Pina Colada are great to work with. Strong, and sunny yet versatile enough to be used with the most subtle shades of colors.
