I love lilies. When they open up before my eyes, my imagination starts to work. And there is only one thing I want to do then: make some wonderful designs with these amazing flowers. This time, I had a chance to work with four extravagant and brilliant varieties, and below you can see what I have created.
Everything Happens for a Reason
"Everything Happens for a Reason" - this is the title of the floristic show that took place during the Gardenia Fair in Poznan. I was invited by the Association of Polish Florists as the Florist of the Year 2021 to host the show.
The show was a summary of my almost one-year activity as the Florist of the Year for the promotion of flowers. On the stage, there was also a short presentation and overview of ten years of activities of the Polish Florist Association.
Showing Lily Designs
The show became a convenient excuse to present some flowers from Bredefleur, the Dutch grower of lilies. I chose four varieties for the shows: Lily Original Love, Dark Secret, Tintoretto, and Apricot Fudge.
Lily Dark Secret
The show started with a bouquet arranged in the hand, without construction, using Dark Secret lilies; flowers with a dark, almost chocolate color. These looked dignified in the bouquet.
The color of the lilies was complemented by other flowers such as Cappuccino roses, carnations, and large-flowered chrysanthemums, becoming a convenient base to bring out the beauty of the Dark Secret lily. The whole is supplemented with dried grass Miscanthus Sinensis Zebrinus.
Lily Tintoretto
Another one of the bouquets made during the floristic show was a bouquet with the use of Tintoretto lilies. It aroused universal admiration, delight, and great interest due to its unusual-looking flower buds and petals. The bouquet was arranged in a spiral using a structure, a wire hoop to which eucalyptus shoots and lilies were attached. The bouquet displayed long, smooth stems of lilies. It emphasized its beautiful appearance.
The show was received with great applause, thus confirming the wide use of lilies in floristry.
Lily Original Love
I used Original Love lilies for the composition of the tall dish. The arrangement was Christmas-themed. It was made in a bio sponge from Smithers-Oasis and kept in the tones of earth and red colors thanks to the intense red color of these lilies.
Urszula Asanowicz and Krzysztof Zurek assisted in the work. The photos were taken by Marcin Czech.
Christmas Gala Designs
Two days later, at a Christmas Gala at the flower market in Poznan, I presented my next designs. The first one featured the Lily Apricot Fudge.
Lily Apricot Fudge
During this show, I made a wedding bouquet in the form of drops using Apricot Fudge lilies. Each flower was individually hung on a gold wire tied to the handle of the bouquet. I secured the ends of the stems with glue to limit water evaporation.
The bouquet was light, moving, and constantly changing due to the freely moving flowers. The whole bouquet was completed with a pine shoot painted in gold. The lily, due to its appearance and color, also aroused wonder and admiration. Several people after the show asked about the producer.
The show was assisted by Krzysztof Zurek, Agnieszka Sekalska, and Aleksandra Wilgocka. The photos were taken by Ewa Bentkowska.
Everything Happens for a Reason
"Everything Happens for a Reason" was not just the title of the Gardenia Fair in Poznan. I also believe this. I am fortunate to be able to work with the most wonderful products in the world and enchant people. Arouse their adoration, joy, and interest in flowers. This challenges me to be at my best when I am around flowers.
I would like to thank lily grower Bredefleur, exporter Salaba, and wholesaler Rekpol for their help in the logistics and transport of flowers. And the Thursd portal once again for cooperation and trust.
