Floriculture & Export Specialist

Beatrice Cheruon

I have spent over a decade working inside Kenya's flower industry – from my early days as an export and administrative assistant to senior supply chain coordinator and eventually commercial manager. My career has taken me across the full value chain of Kenyan floriculture, from farm-level quality control and order management to managing international client accounts across the Middle East, Far East, and beyond. I understand this industry from the ground up because that is exactly where I started.

My work sits at the intersection of export operations, commercial strategy, and client relationship management. I have navigated freight disruptions, geopolitical supply chain shocks, seasonal demand peaks, and the relentless reality of moving a perishable product across the world on time and in perfect condition. Every day in this industry teaches you something new – and after ten years, I am still learning.

I am passionate about telling the stories that most people never see from inside Kenya's flower export world. The logistics, the market dynamics, the human moments behind every stem that leaves this country. Kenya is the third-largest flower producer in the world and supplies over 40 percent of the flowers imported into the European Union – yet so much of what happens behind that statistic remains untold. That is the gap I want to fill through my writing.

I am based in Nairobi, Kenya, and I also publish Flourish – a newsletter on the business of flowers in Africa and beyond. I am excited to bring the Kenyan flower industry perspective to the Thursd community and to contribute to the global conversation about the future of floriculture.
