Last month, I had the joy of creating a lush, tropical-inspired wedding showcase at The Old Dog House Inn, transforming the rustic very English venue into a breathtaking botanical paradise—without a single flower in sight. The goal was to immerse guests in a green oasis, using an abundance of Adomex's OrcaGreen leaves to craft a striking, nature-filled experience.
The Vision: A Tropical Retreat in the Countryside
Summer is all about vibrancy and life, and I wanted to capture that energy in the wedding showcase. By incorporating tall, architectural greenery with soft, romantic chiffon drapes, the ceremony space felt like a serene tropical escape.
My inspiration came from dreamy coastal tropical gardens, with a focus on rich textures and soothing tones that would frame the ceremony while maintaining the venue's intimate, barn-style charm.
Dreamy Ceremony Feature: A Memorable, Immersive Experience Working With Adomex Greens
Adomex, known for its high-quality, responsibly sourced foliage, was the perfect partner for this design. They offer a variety of greens from around the world, ensuring both freshness and sustainability. With their exotic collection, I had everything I needed to evoke a luxurious, tropical ambiance.
For the ceremony feature, I created bold foliage-rich columns of Phoenix Roebelenii palm and Serenoa Repens palm (Palmetto) with romantic soft chiffon drapes. These gave the display structure and texture, while the glossy Aspidistra Elatior, Cordyline Black Tie, and Cordyline Green Tie added elegance and calmness to the design.
The overall vibe was that of a dreamy, coastal paradise—one that invited the guests to feel the lushness all around them. And to add a sustainable touch, we later dried the Serenoa repens palm and cut them into spears, giving the foliage a second life and reducing waste.
Romantic Aisle Styling
The aisle was lined with soft chiffon chair drapes, accented by OrcaGreen Aspidistra from Guatemala. The long arching fronds of Cat palms added texture, while the Aralia palm's eight-lobed leaves brought a refined elegance to the arrangements. Together, these elements created a romantic, tropical path that blended seamlessly with the rustic barn setting.
Fresh Green Tablescape
The reception table was draped in a sage-green runner, creating the perfect backdrop for a lush green palette. Leatherleaf Fern (Arachniodes adiantiformis), known for its leathery fronds, paired beautifully with Chico leafs (Chamaedorea elegans).
The indigenous people of La Huasteca in Mexico pick the wild palm fronds manually and with care and provide income for local families in the country's remote areas. This simple yet elegant greenery brought a timeless beauty to the tablescape, styled with black geometric candle holders and tied napkins to keep it chic and modern.
Winter Berry Tablescape
For the second table, inspired by winter, I used Hypericum (St. John's Wort) its clusters of small berries in shades of red are often used to accompany other flowers but I chose to make them the star of the show.
Paired with Leather Fern and tucked into napkin pockets for a playful touch, these berries added texture and volume. Black biodegradable ribbon (made from trees) bows and candle holders on beaded charger plates completed the elegant, wintery look, topped off with an Aralia leaf for a final flourish.
Memorable, Sustainable Styling
This showcase was a true reminder of the power of high-quality foliage to transform any space into a lush, immersive experience. The use of Adomex greens allowed me to create something truly memorable, adding both beauty and environmental responsibility to the event.
If you’re dreaming of lush, green designs like this, high-quality foliage can offer a world of possibilities for your wedding or event. Let your florals transport guests to a world of natural luxury, filled with beauty and serenity.
