On a recent visit to top Chrysanthemum breeder Deliflor and enormous grower Capiro, Shallima Turizo and Melissa Maingot set out on a full-day adventure in Medellin to know all about the processes behind breeding and growing this type of flower, including visiting Deliflor's setup before one of their most important events of the year, the renowned 'Delishow'.

Sustainability is a core value for the breeders, and they actively promote the growth of the floriculture sector within a framework that balances economic success with environmental respect. Recognizing that its processes require multiple resources, the company is committed to transforming and promoting its production methods while fostering an environmental culture within the organization. This approach ensures that each process uses environmental resources as efficiently as possible.

During their visit, Shallima and Melissa saw this and much more. Starting with a glance at their 'Deliflor Huerto' which provides weekly natural-grown veggies and herbs for the team and farm while getting to see the full 'pre-process' of the chrysant cultivation, preparing for Chrysanthemum Week.

On the other hand, behind successful and responsible flower businesses is a key component: support. Showing and having mutual support in the flower industry is crucial, and here is where Deliflor and Flores El Capiro step in as an alliance to show the world how a breeder and grower can work together to obtain great results.

Nowadays, Capiro grows a significant number of some of Deliflor's most important and relevant varieties throghout their farms located in La Ceja, Antioquia. Thanks to the construction of a solid 'Chrysanthemum House', a comprehensive concept designed to add value to the region, the country, the industry, employees, and clients, Deliflor has achieved a 50% growth in propagation areas, enabling them to support the company’s growth and provide the desired service to their top grower Capiro aside from their day-to-day clients by delivering a greater volume of elite material.

They expect to deliver more than 8 million cuttings annually for the propagation of their cultivators. As an insightful fact, there is a total area of 1.5 hectares under greenhouses that have been established, strengthening each of their production processes technologically and adopting better agricultural practices for Chrysanthemum development, with a strong belief in precision agronomy.
