Greenhouse Sustainability has launched a new version of its well-known Flori Footprint Tool: the Easytool. With this tool, growers can now calculate their footprint according to the European standard FloriPEFCR for just €99 per month. The Easytool makes it possible for horticultural businesses to take their very first steps in footprinting in a simple and affordable way.

A New Way to Start With Footprinting

The original Flori Footprint Tool has long given companies the possibility to calculate their environmental impact—both at the company level and per product. It covers the entire supply chain, from production to distribution, packaging, and waste. The tool provides insight into multiple categories such as CO₂ emissions, water use, toxicity, and land use. This gives businesses a detailed picture of their total environmental footprint, and even allows them to model future scenarios.

However, not every company is ready to take on a full system right away. While the Flori Footprint Tool is comprehensive, for many entrepreneurs, it can feel like a big step. That’s where the Easytool comes in: streamlined, easier to use, and available at a much lower rate.

The importance of footprinting in floriculture

Designed for Beginners in Footprinting

Rick van der Linden, senior LCA specialist at Greenhouse Sustainability, says about footprinting:

“Just like the full version, the Easytool lets you calculate as many products, locations, and years as you want. It’s just as professional, but it’s aimed at a different audience—growers who are only just starting out with footprinting.”

Certain functions, like scenario modeling, have been switched off in the Easytool. As software developer Aron Hannes Emilsson explains:

“When you’re only starting to calculate your footprint, you’re not immediately focused on exploring multiple scenarios. But if later on you want to take that next step, you can always add extra modules. Even with the Easytool, we can still offer a fully tailored solution.”

Starting Point for Horticulture

The Easytool is primarily meant to introduce horticultural companies to the process of footprinting. From there, they can decide how quickly to move forward. It’s a simple, professional, and accessible entry point for everyone who wants to understand their footprint. Another advantage is that all data can be linked quickly and easily to other registration platforms. For now, the Easytool is available exclusively for ornamental growers. A version tailored for Fresh Produce growers will follow soon.
