No Plastic Floral Foam

For years, the floral industry has wrestled with a difficult contradiction. Creativity, beauty, and craftsmanship on one side - plastic floral foam on the other. Traditional foam has also become one of the sector’s most persistent environmental challenges. Non-biodegradable, oil-based, and a source of microplastics, it no longer aligns with the future that many florists are working towards.

A Necessary Shift, Finally Within Reach

The demand for sustainable floral products has been growing fast. Florists want to move away from plastic foam, but only if the alternative truly works. With the introduction of Sideau®, available via No Plastic Floral Foam!, that moment has arrived.

Sideau® is a professional floral design block made entirely without plastic. It hydrates stems efficiently, provides reliable stability, and degrades naturally after use without leaving microplastics. Instead of becoming waste, the material gradually returns to the soil, aligning perfectly with circular design principles.

Performance Meets Responsibility

What sets Sideau® apart is its balance between sustainability and performance. Designed for professional use, the material supports intricate mechanics, sculptural designs, and large-scale arrangements just as confidently as traditional foam, without the environmental impact.

Florists who have already made the switch highlighted the easy handling and reliable water uptake. The difference lies beneath the surface: no oil-based ingredients, no hidden plastics, and no long-term footprint.

More Than a Product

What truly distinguishes No Plastic Floral Foam! is its mindset. This is not simply about replacing one material with another; it’s about rethinking how florists work with flowers - how materials are chosen, used, and returned to the environment.

FAQ

How fast does Sideau® absorb water?

A standard Sideau block can absorb approximately 1.5 liters of water in just 1 second. It’s important not to submerge it longer than that, as over-soaking can cause surface softening. Correct hydration ensures optimal stem support and consistent performance.

What is the consists of Sideau® ?

It consists of 97% basalt, a natural volcanic stone, bonded with a plant-based binder derived from sucrose (natural sugar). This means Sideau® is entirely natural and can be composted after use. The minerals in basalt enrich the soil, promoting healthy plant growth. Additionally, Sideau® is pH-neutral and free from harmful chemicals, making it suitable for use in natural cemeteries and recognized as a sustainable solution in many countries.
