Native to the Canary Islands, Pericallis is a hybrid of two species, Senecio and Cineraria. Senetti® originates from the skilled breeders at Suntory Flowers in Japan. Senetti is a captivating array of Pericallis hybrids that are the result of expert crossbreeding between members of the Compositae and Asteraceae families. Although previously classified as a cineraria hybrid, Senetti® is quite different from seed-grown cineraria typically found in households.
Because until recently all material was raised from seed, they were known for being winter and spring flowering plants. Now the genus Senecio has been re-classified into Pericallis in recent years, the Senetti® is the first to come from vegetative cuttings, making it available almost the entire year and you can also use it as an indoor plant! Just put it in a place permeable to light, at room temperature and it will flourish.
