No Plastic Floral Foam

Spring has a special kind of energy. The light changes, colors return, and suddenly every florist feels that familiar urge to create something new. After months of muted tones, the season bursts open with movement, with fluttering Tulipas, dancing Ranunculus, and shining bright Narcissus.

The perfect moment to experiment! And when creativity flows freely, it’s even more inspiring when the materials behind your design support the beauty of nature rather than harm it.

A New Foundation for Modern Floristry

Florists everywhere are becoming more mindful about the mechanics behind their work. Traditional floral foam, once considered essential, has increasingly been recognized as a single-use plastic product that contributes to environmental waste and microplastic pollution.

Through No Plastic Floral Foam!, florists now have access to Sideau®, a professional floral design block made entirely without plastic. Designed to support stems while efficiently hydrating them securely, it offers the reliability florists expect from traditional foundations – without leaving harmful residues behind. Even better, the material naturally breaks down after use, returning safely to the environment rather than becoming long-term waste.

For designers who want to align their work with the beauty of the natural world, that’s a meaningful shift.

Spring Flowers Meet Sustainable Base

Spring flowers are playful by nature – and that makes them perfect partners for foam-free creativity. It can be cut, shaped, reused, and even composted once its job is done – making it a versatile companion for everything from intimate spring bouquets to large-scale designs. And that freedom to experiment? That’s where the magic happens.

Sharing Inspiration, Season After Season

One of the most beautiful things about floristry is that inspiration never runs out. There’s always another color combination to explore, another flower to fall in love with, another technique to share with fellow designers. Spring is a reminder of that endless cycle of creativity.

FAQ

How fast does Sideau® absorb water?

A standard Sideau block can absorb approximately 1.5 liters of water in just 1 second. It’s important not to submerge it longer than that, as over-soaking can cause surface softening. Correct hydration ensures optimal stem support and consistent performance.

What is Sideau® made of?

It consists of 97% basalt, a natural volcanic stone, bonded with a plant-based binder derived from sucrose (natural sugar). This means Sideau® is entirely natural and can be composted after use. The minerals in basalt enrich the soil, promoting healthy plant growth. Additionally, Sideau® is pH-neutral and free from harmful chemicals, making it suitable for use in natural cemeteries and recognized as a sustainable solution in many countries.
