The World Cup Floral Art 2025 in The Hague continued to surprise and inspire. Task 5 challenged designers to merge floral art with high fashion by creating a wearable head decoration inspired by the work of Dutch designer Iris van Herpen.
Van Herpen is celebrated worldwide for her avant-garde, architectural couture that blends technology, science, and nature. Her creations often feature flowing organic shapes and innovative materials produced through techniques like 3D printing and laser cutting. Drawing on her distinctive aesthetic, competitors selected one of several pre-curated Iris van Herpen dresses as their inspiration point.
Task 5 - Head Decoration
Starting from Iris van Herpen's Dresses, the brief gave room for artistic freedom. In 90 minutes, each competitor created a fully wearable headpiece that can be safely placed on and removed from a model or support stand. The size, style, and technique were up to each designer, but durability was essential: every piece needed to last at least a full day. Competitors supplied all their own materials and the stand or support for the presentation.
