Florist/Artist Yusif Khalilov presents a new photoshoot project, created in collaboration with Finnish photographer Anna Salminen, made of three connected bodies of work. Here's what Yusif explains about his designs to get a better understanding of his creative mind.
Three Connected Works by Yusif Khalilov
The man who created many extraordinary things, such as the unique and very artistic Rose Jacket and the world's most expensive flower bouquet, valued over €1 million, has been busy again putting floral designs in the spotlight.
Through photography, flowers, and sculptural artworks, his new project talks about identity, culture, and how humans continue to grow and change in today's world.
1. In the Land of Sakura
The first series, 'In the Land of Sakura', is a self-portrait inspired by Japanese culture. In this artwork, Yusif is portrayed seated to symbolize the present, wearing a traditional Japanese-style hat made with spray roses from Interplant. The flowers are not just decoration – they represent beauty, care, and the idea that nothing stays the same forever. By placing himself inside the artwork, the artist becomes part of the story, mixing personal identity with cultural inspiration.
1. Out of Box
The second series, 'Out of Box', shows a solitary figure resting on a vintage golden sofa. Dressed fully in black, the figure feels grounded and still, while a crown of his favorite roses, named "Media Spray Roses", forms a perfect rectangle above his head.
The scene sits between reality and dream, turning a simple room into a quiet reflection on creativity, identity, and the beauty of thinking differently and stepping outside convention.
1. The Last Human
The third series, 'The Last Human', shows photographed artworks that reflect on humanity during a moment of change. Instead of focusing on loss, this work looks at transformation.
The human figure appears calm and thoughtful, shaped by the world around it and open to becoming something new. The images invite the viewer to slow down and reflect on where we are going, not just where we have been.
Flowers Connect the 3 Series
Flowers connect the three series. They are used as a main artistic material, not as decoration. Their natural beauty and short life remind us of time, change, and renewal. Through flowers, the project speaks about growth, movement, and quiet strength.
This photoshoot continues Yusif Khalilov's artistic journey of using flowers as a language – a way to tell stories that exist between art, fashion, photography, and performance.
