At Delishow 2025, Deliflor invited visitors to take a meaningful step back to rediscover the origins of beauty, dedication, and resilience that define its Chrysanthemums. Through Deliroots, the breeder celebrated its history not as something distant, but as a living force that continues to nourish every flower and every innovation.
“Deliroots is a heartfelt tribute to our beginnings,” shared David Marín, Operations Director at Deliflor. “It’s a recognition of everyone who has been part of this story — our Dutch founders, our Colombian growers, and especially my father, whose vision and values still guide us.”
“Just as roots give plants strength and stability,” he added, “our roots — family, cultural, and human — give us purpose. They ground us, inspire us, and remind us to keep growing with gratitude and pride.”
A Journey Rooted in History
The story of the Chrysanthemum spans continents and centuries. From its beginnings in the ancient gardens of China to its symbolic rise as the Imperial Flower of Japan, and finally to the Dutch greenhouses where innovation found fertile ground, this flower carries a narrative of connection across cultures.

At Deliroots, visitors followed this journey through a beautifully curated visual timeline — a blend of history, design, and storytelling that honored how a single flower traveled across worlds, carrying with it meaning, mastery, and memory.
Honoring the Founders and the Land
Deliroots was also an act of gratitude. It honored the Dutch founders whose pioneering work established Deliflor's global legacy, while celebrating the Colombian soil that now anchors it. In the heart of Antioquia, La Ceja, Deliflor found more than just land — it discovered a partnership with nature itself.
Here, the balance of sunlight, altitude, and human care creates ideal conditions for Chrysanthemums to thrive.
“Every Chrysanthemum prospers easily here,” one panel read, “rooted in earth rich in nutrients and water.” It was a poetic reminder that the soil is not only the beginning of growth — it is the silent witness of heritage, and the foundation of every new creation.
The People Who Make It Bloom
Beyond innovation and history, Deliroots shone a light on the people whose hands make everything possible. From David Marín’s leadership and vision to the dedication of workers like Pacho, Ricardo Alzate, Mary Rendón, and Loren Franco, the installation highlighted the humanity behind the craft. Their commitment — to nurture, harvest, and innovate — stands as the unseen force behind every variety Deliflor brings to the world.

Each story told at Deliroots reflected a simple but powerful truth: that excellence is born from care, and that each crossing, each plant, each petal, is intentional — created to bring more resilience, beauty, and uniqueness into the world.
Tradition Meets Innovation
For Deliflor, honoring the past goes hand in hand with creating the future. Deliroots showed how tradition and technology coexist in harmony — from decades of Dutch expertise in breeding to the precision of modern propagation labs in Colombia. The result is not just the world’s finest Chrysanthemums, but a living example of how passion and innovation can grow side by side.
Deliroots closed with a reflection on continuity — that true growth happens when roots remain strong, even as new branches reach out. It is a celebration of Deliflor’s heritage, its people, and the fertile soils that have sustained generations of Chrysanthemum excellence.
Through this project, Deliflor reaffirmed its belief that the essence of innovation lies not in distance from the past but in staying connected to it. The story of Deliroots reminds the industry that while flowers bloom for a moment, roots last a lifetime — grounding every creation in gratitude, respect, and the quiet power of where it all began.
