Enhanced Leucospermum Flowers

Writing a long piece about the variety, where it comes from. Is that necessary in this case? Well, let's provide you with a bit of background info. The genus Leucospermum is a member of the protea family. It consists of 48 species that occur in Southern Africa as far North as Zimbabwe, with the majority occurring in the winter rainfall regions of Western Cape. Also known as nutans, or pincushion flower. The South African word is 'speldenkussen' protea.

A South African Flower?

Originally this flower was only grown in South Africa, but nowadays you can find many of them from Spain and Portugal as well. Most varieties can be delivered year-round. So many different colors are available these days in the leucospermum range. By coloring them, and becoming enhanced leucospermum flowers, the flower is keeping its looks, and colors are available that nature just can't provide. Many people like them! At least, according to the people who dye them, and the buyers of course.

Without Further Ado.. Enjoy the Pictures!

The enhanced leucospermum is available via grower and importer De Mooij Import from the Netherlands. Besides the dyed leucospermums, they offer a range of colored banksia's, cape greens, and other proteas as well.
