The winter season signals the return of Helleborus, a plant closely connected to Christmas and early winter colour. As temperatures drop and most garden plants enter dormancy, Helleborus steps forward with strong seasonal value for growers, traders, and retailers. Its ability to flower through the colder months and maintain colour during frost makes it one of the most reliable products on the market at this time of year.
The Christmas Flower and Its Seasonal Appeal
Helleborus, commonly known as hellebores, has earned its name as the Christmas flower because several varieties begin flowering in November and December. This timing aligns perfectly with winter retail demand and offers consumers a plant that brings colour through the holiday period and continues performing well into the new year. Its strength, longevity, and winter resilience make it a consistent choice for both indoor and outdoor displays during the season.
Helleborus Varieties From HilverdaFlorist
HilverdaFlorist opens the season with a strong collection that includes three main groups. The Awesome Series offers early flowering from November, with excellent uniformity due to its tissue-culture background. The Glamour Series begins in December and continues through spring with an extensive colour range and distinctive flower forms.
The JWLS Series brings heat-tolerant true perennials that respond well to programmed cultivation. Winterbells within this group can be sold from early September and continue flowering for many months, giving retailers and consumers a long-season product that maintains quality.
Winter Wonderland Collection and Visit Invitation
This year, HilverdaFlorist is presenting a Winter Wonderland collection featuring key varieties, including Strawberry Moon, Endless, and Heavenly. These varieties are among the highlights of the current assortment and are available for review and selection. Visitors will have the opportunity to see these plants up close and evaluate their colour, growth habit, and performance in real time.

Visits to the Winter Wonderland presentation take place from December 1 to December 14 at the HilverdaFlorist facilities at Dwarsweg 15 in De Kwakel, Netherlands. Growers, traders, and consumers are encouraged to schedule their appointment in advance to view the full range and explore the new additions for the coming seasons.
