According to Populous, King Salman Stadium and Masterplan in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, will serve as a premier location for both domestic and international athletic events. Situated next to King Abdulaziz Park on King Salman Road, the project revolves around a stadium with 92,000 seats and a vast master plan that combines commercial, recreational, and athletic amenities. The venues are envisioned by the design team as seeds sprouting from the ground, representing expansion and the country's dedication to promoting sports participation, drawing inspiration from Saudi Arabia's natural surroundings.

Inspiration From Nature and Saudi's Surroundings

This project, which is expected to be finished in 2029, fits in with Saudi Arabia's larger plan for its bid to host the FIFA World Cup in 2034, which includes 15 stadium designs influenced by the nation's natural surroundings and cultural legacy. The natural nature of Saudi Arabia served as the design's inspiration. Each venue in the master plan is evocative of a seed that sprouts, splits the ground, and emerges as a dynamic yet seemingly organic intervention.

All About a Process of Transformation and Growth, Just Like a Seed

The 'seeds' concept in the King Salman Stadium design symbolizes the broader transformation happening in Saudi Arabia. It represents growth, sustainability, and renewal—both ecologically and socially—matching the country's Vision 2030. The stadium is intended to serve as an opening seed that will grow into a larger cultural and sports hub, inspiring environmental consciousness and innovation.

Offering an Enveloping Experience for the Future's Environment, Memories, and Soccer Fans

Populous, who has more than 40 years of experience and a portfolio of international projects, created the King Salman Stadium in accordance with FIFA regulations. The stadium will hold important athletic and entertainment events and serve as the home field for the Saudi Arabian national football team. The venue's seating bowl is intended to provide guests with a condensed and engaging experience. It has first-rate amenities such as lounges, hospitality skyboxes, a Royal Box, and tiers of seating for VIPs, VVIPs, and regular guests. The entire visiting experience is improved by inside gardens and screens, while a rooftop walking path provides expansive views of King Abdulaziz Park.
