Based in the backcountry of Ruiru — a small town on the outskirts of Kenya’s capital Nairobi — Red Lands Roses is a Kenyan grower that prides itself in producing some of the highest quality roses which embody the trueness of the haute couture culture. Coming in a range of around two hundred varieties, the grower’s roses are, in essence, a true definition of luxury and quality.
Since antiquity, roses have been cultivated for their aesthetics, beauty, and perfume. And Red Lands Roses possesses the incredible capability to perfectly produce this unique flower, giving it all its deserved glory. The rose farm achieves this through the different roses in its wide assortment; varieties that, simply, make a statement whenever they are used in floral arrangements!
Roses and the Luxury Nuances
The rose is often considered a symbol of love and beauty. But it also holds a special place in the floral world. It defines luxury. In the delicate fragrance of the different varieties, as well as the unique shades of these roses, there is an entire universe in which quality and luxury take center stage.
For the discerning eye, the journey to a luxury rose begins with its origin. This is a notion that Red Lands Roses knows just too well. The ideal care and attention given to these flowers throughout their cultivation process — from hand-pruning and picking, to harvesting, and packaging — contribute to their exceptional beauty and perfection.
The rose farm has, therefore, put in place all the required measures — including at least seven quality checks — to ensure that its spray and standard roses are of the best quality and appeal to all, especially in the luxury event segment. It is no wonder several high-end events worldwide are so keen on the flower company’s roses.
Red Lands Roses Adorning Designs and Arrangements in Upscale Events
Away from their beauty and physical attributes, luxury in roses extends to the experience. Perfectly formed roses, presented in a bespoke arrangement, evoke a sense of exceptionalness and exclusivity. Plus, the artistry of a skilled florist, who understands the nuances of color, texture, and form, plays a key role too.
Partnering with some of the leading florists, Red Lands Roses’ varieties, therefore, achieve exclusivity and showcase an element of luxury in themselves. They showcase the epitome of classiness, given their luxury and more-than-elegant nature, and also the French know-how and its influence, according to those who’ve had the opportunity to work with and experience some of the grower’s varieties.
Luxury is, essentially, part of the farm's DNA, according to Lucille Clement, the company’s Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer. It is the flower farm's French roots, the quality controls from the greenhouse to shipping, and the savoir-faire, that make all the difference.
Events That Have Featured Red Lands Roses Flowers
The rose farm always supplies roses to the French Embassy in Kenya, in a partnership that spans years. Bastille Day and Tastin'France are the two major annual events in which the Embassy asks for more flowers for its decor. Such was the case recently during the Bastille Day celebrations that the Embassy held.
Lucille:
“We also supply the flowers weekly because, in the eyes of all previous French Ambassadors to Kenya until now, we represent the perfect fusion of French know-how in luxury, and being made in Africa. This changes the narrative that the world spread about the motherland. For the recent Bastille Day celebration, some of the varieties used were selected according to the wife of the Ambassador's preferences and favorites.
These included Spray Rose Julieta, Rose Julieta Limoncella (both bred by French breeder, Georges Delbard), Rose Jillian (a luxury wedding garden tea hybrid), and Rose Wangari Maathai, which we launched with the Embassy some years back. For each stem of this variety sold a percentage of the earnings goes to the Wangari Maathai Foundation.”
This event featured the grower’s flagship varieties like Spray Rose Julieta, Garden Special Spray Rose Darlington, and Rose Jillian, as well as those that have a story behind them including Rose Wangari Maathai, and Rose Isabelle (named after Red Lands Roses founder Isabelle Spindler). Other varieties at the event were Spray Rose Mini Must Teeny Weeny, Spray Rose Royal Porcelina, Rose Angel Skin, Rose Shanta, and Rose Ice Breaker.
Featuring in More Upscale and Luxury Events Across the World
Roses from Red Lands Roses have also gone on to grace several other leading luxury events worldwide. For instance, the Grand Ball of Princes and Princesses of Monte Carlo was held during this year’s Women’s Day at the most luxurious hotel in the world, the Burj Al Arab. It featured several varieties from the grower.
Varieties used then were Rose Jillian, Spray Rose Gentle Trendsetter, Rose Novia, Rose Belle Rose, Rose Sweet Revival, Spray Rose Mini Must Teeny Weeny, Rose Destini, Rose Nalani, Rose Frivolity, Rose Angel Skin, Rose Royal Porcelina, Rose Tendresse, Rose Darlington, Rose Muriel Lace, and several others.
Lucille:
“We, also, have previously been honored to feature in diner decoration and workshops for Dior and Louis Vuitton. We usually end up there through luxury event specialist florists, who get access to our products in France through our exclusive partner Fleur Assistance.”
Also, through an exclusive distributor in the UAE, Camelia Trading, Red Lands Roses is, usually, honored to supply its varieties to the palace of the Royal Family of Abu Dhabi. During the Holy Month of Ramadan, for instance, the palace’s demand for garden roses is usually very high. Then, Camelia Trading asks for the delivery of hundreds of stems of the Garden Spray Rose Julieta for the palace. This, usually, is driven by the top-notch quality of the roses, and the standards expected by the royal family.
A Focus on Quality and Luxury Elements
Many events’ florists and floral designers mainly focus on the quantity of beautiful flowers used in the designs. But for Red Lands Roses, the idea is to deliver roses that bring quality and luxury into these designs, to create the ‘wow’ effect for both the floral designers and the guests.
With its more than 200 varieties — which offer a wide range of colors — it is, practically, impossible for event designers and planners not to find the exact perfect shade that they seek, to complement their overall aesthetics. With the unique varieties at its disposal, newer varieties coming in, and the processes that go into these roses' development, the flower farm is delivering that 'wow' effect in luxury events.
