Remarkable Roses Sustainability

The Biological Lab - Science as a Tool for Consistency

In 2020, Star Roses opened their biological laboratory to develop alternatives to traditional chemicals. They began with native strains of Trichoderma sp., and gradually expanded to T. harzianum, T. viride, and T. asperellum.

By 2022, they incorporated Paecilomyces sp., and in 2023, Bacillus sp. was added to their portfolio as a soil solubilizer and bioremediator.

With this lab, they reduce the need for chemical fumigants, strengthen soil balance and nutrient uptake, deliver stronger stems, better flowers, and improved color fixation, and provide our technical team with biological tools that support productivity and reduce risks in the field. This scientific approach allows them to grow with precision while ensuring consistency over time.

ISII – Xperience: Latin America’s Most Advanced Irrigation System

In 2020, the company became one of the first farms in Latin America to implement ISII – Xperience, developed by Nitzan GmbH (Switzerland) and Hoogendoorn B.V. (The Netherlands).

This system covers 80 hectares of production and has transformed how they manage irrigation by automating and monitoring water, fertilization, and disinfection with high precision. It integrates real-time data through the 'Let’s Grow Cloud Platform' for analysis and optimization, establishing consistency across every greenhouse, reducing waste, and optimizing every drop of water applied.

The results are roses with uniform growth, larger head sizes, longer vase life, and healthier foliage. More importantly, this technology allows them to maintain these parameters consistently over the years.

Provida: Oxygen at the Roots

To complement ISII – Xperience, Star Roses integrated Provida, a system that injects oxygen nanobubbles into the irrigation water. This innovation increases root oxygenation and plant metabolism, improves nutrient absorption and resilience, and optimizes water use across their farms.

By combining ISII – Xperience and Provida, they operate what they consider to be the most advanced irrigation setup in Latin America, while using technology that helps use water responsibly while maximizing productivity.

SCARAB: Intelligent Pest Monitoring

For crop protection, SCARAB comes in as an advanced monitoring system that identifies biological thresholds in real time.

With it, they can detect risks early and take precise action, reduce unnecessary chemical applications, and strengthen the integration between monitoring and the biological solutions developed in the lab. The result is healthier plants and a production system where every intervention is targeted and efficient.

Neuthox® - Post-Harvest Precision

Beyond cultivation, they also apply innovation in post-harvest with Neuthox®, an electrochemically activated (ECA) water system. Neuthox® improves stem hydration and absorption, extends vase life and freshness, and ensures controlled disinfection while reducing the need for more aggressive treatments. This guarantees that roses maintain their beauty and performance from the farm to their clients worldwide.
