Putnam Flowers was founded in 2014 by NYC’s preeminent floral designer Michael Putnam and partner Darroch Putnam. Their namesake brand has been the go-to for the discerning set with flowers uniquely tailored for every occasion: editorial, weddings, fashion presentations and more. Their elegant and ethereal style has garnered the attention of clients like tastemakers Gwyneth Paltrow, Adam Lippes and Jason Wu, and brands like Bergdorf Goodman, Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.
The duo travels the world transforming spaces and creating lush romantic events with no detail overlooked. From lavish opulence to pared-down restraint, Putnam & Putnam’s highly customizable floral arrangements are uniquely tailored for every occasion.
In October 2018, Putnam & Putnam released their debut title, Flower Color Guide, the first reference book to organize flower types by color, with an emphasis on seasonality and creative color schemes. In February 2019, Putnam & Putnam opened their first retail location at the Moxy Hotel including a lush botanical experience at the entrance in addition and a selection of seasonal, hand-tied bouquets and fresh-cut cup arrangements.
Some advice from the duo: "People should learn to work with spaces when it comes to decor. Really think about that. Creating giant things in a barn doesn't work. Learn your space, tackle that first, and then match your surroundings. From a floral perspective, the creative advises deciding what your space's vibe is before doing anything else. Maybe if your space is rustic or natural, go for something more organic, romantic, softer. Or if your space is gilded and gaudy, go for opulence. Work with your space. Go with the colors if it's warm, if it's cool. Work with that so it looks cohesive."
