Since I was a child I have been encaptured by the beauty of the calla lily and I associate it with splendid memories of when my grandparents grew it in their garden. Beholding these memories is with great joy sharing my latest designs with the assortment of calla lilies produced by Kapiteyn. Join my calla creation escapade!
The Calla Lily - An Aristocratic Flowering Plant
Despite its widespread popularity as an indoor and outdoor ornamental plant, the calla plant has some truly amazing characteristics that make it stand out amongst the crowd. Its flowers stand out with their soft, plush petals that form a smooth cup shape. The calla lily's distinctive appearance, marked by its refined lines and variety of colors, marks it as a favorite for creating beautiful floral designs and happens to be one of my all-time faves as well!
With this, it is my pleasure to share more of the designs I have created, ones that portray a summery feeling filled with joy and sunshine.
Summer in Yellow
For this summer design, I chose these gorgeous yellow calla lilies from Kapiteyn. As you may have already heard, yellow is the color that symbolizes the sun, light, and happiness. When seeing this color, it immediately takes us to the heat of summer, to the color of wheat.
I was, therefore inspired by the surrounding nature and created a rectangular-shaped container with ears of wheat. The ear wraps the calla lilies and makes their beauty stand out. And let's see how a classic flower can work flawlessly with a rustic design like the one I suggested.
Working With Dark Purple Callas That Symbolize Creativity and Imagination
Among the various colors I had available, there were also purple calla lilies. Of course, I couldn't resist their regal beauty and chose them to make a design as well. My creation was based on the idea of a summer composition made of dark purple calla lilies with slender flowers, but which overall create a refined design with a strong aesthetic impact.
For this specific design, all of the callas were embellished with curls of woven flat aluminum and mother-of-pearl shells to give it an extra touch of style.
The Sublimity of the Calla Lily
We all know the difficulty of creating floral compositions during the summer period. Factors such as the heat subject the flowers to great stress and their duration is unfortunately limited. However, in this case, using Kapiteyn's calla lilies facilitated this process and left me stress-free when it came to the duration and appearance of these. I found it particularly effective to use them instead of other types of cut flowers to create compositions for events or furnishings. One thing is for sure— give me flowers and plants and I will never stop creating designs!
