There are flower shows, and then there’s Fleurs de Villes—a world-class experience where flowers become storytelling tools and gardens transform into theatrical sets quite literally. This time, it's to bring to life characters from the 'Downton Abbey' movie. From May 23 to June 1, the much-anticipated themed exhibition arrives in Vancouver’s VanDusen Botanical Garden, brought to life in partnership with Oakridge Park. If you're there this week, you won't want to miss out. Keep reading to learn more details.

The World of Downton Abbey Brought to Life by Flowers Thanks to Fleurs de Villes

In celebration of the upcoming film Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, this floral exhibit marries the grandeur of early 20th-century British aristocracy with the imaginative artistry of Vancouver’s most talented floral designers. Corseted gowns rendered in roses, high society elegance blooming in fresh-cut beauty, and 25 unforgettable floral mannequins that channel the charm, poise, and drama of Downton's most beloved characters.

From Lady Mary’s sophisticated beaded gowns and statement hats to the impeccably tailored uniforms of the household staff, each floral masterpiece will bring Downton Abbey’s timeless style and compelling narratives to life.

The result is a couture fantasy rooted in historical reverence. The designers are fully interpreting emotion, era, and character through color palettes and botanical textures. Early on, Lady Sybil’s style reflects her youth and balanced nature. Even as she moves into more mature fashions, Sybil keeps to soothing blues and purples, reflecting her role within the Crawley sister dynamics. Her looks may seem softer than those of her sisters, but upon closer look at this dress, you can see an oddly unique pattern, with mixed floral prints and geometric shapes. Her dress is brought to life with fresh and dried white flowers—spray mums, stock, snaps, and delphiniums —that capture her compassionate nature.

Besides being able to stroll and have a wonderful time seeing what floral dreams are made of and brought to real life, you'll be able to watch floral demonstrations, sip botanical cocktails, visit the weekend flower market, capture your experience at the gardens, and receive a printed photograph at Oakridge Park’s photobooth. Don’t forget you can also vote for your favorite mannequin for a chance to win a $1,500 Oakridge Park shopping spree and a beautiful $250 floral bouquet.
