When we were invited to create a series of festive designs featuring Tesselaar Alstroemeria, we knew immediately that the flowers themselves had to be the heroes. Alstroemerias are often used as supporting blooms in larger compositions. Still, with Tesselaar’s exceptional quality, bold colors, and beautifully large heads, it felt only right to let them tell their own story. Rather than treating them as fillers, we wanted to frame them as the main characters in each design, asking what would happen if everything else quietly stepped aside.

Acacia Studio Designs With Alstroemerias

At Acacia Creative Studio, our work is often sculptural and design-led. We love exploring form, movement, and structure, so the challenge was to design pieces that felt true to our aesthetic while showcasing the natural character of the Alstroemeria.

To achieve this, we held back on additional florals, letting the alstros stand confidently as the feature flowers alongside touches of seasonal embellishments. Their longevity also shaped our concepts. With Tesselaar's Alstroemerias being so long-lasting, they are ideal for those corporate festive installations that need to maintain impact through the season, from the first client event to the last office celebration.

This practical side matters. When you work on large-scale festive projects, you often design for busy lobbies, hotel entrances, restaurant spaces, and reception counters that see heavy traffic. You need flowers that can handle changing temperatures, constant airflow, and long hours under artificial lighting while still looking composed. Knowing that these alstroemerias would keep their shape and colour meant we could design more confidently, introducing height and drama without worrying that the flowers would tire before the season really began.

Small Celebrations Unfolding

In each design, we focused on honoring the flower’s own sense of rhythm. The way an alstroemeria opens, layer by layer, already feels festive, like small celebrations unfolding in turn. With sculptural frameworks supporting them, we allowed clusters of blooms to create their own movement, guiding the eye through colour, depth, and texture. Some arrangements were more architectural, with strong vertical lines and grouped stems, while others played with softer, cascading shapes that felt almost like garlands rewritten in a contemporary language.

What struck us most while working with Tesselaar’s varieties was the uniformity and strength of every single stem. The colors selected for this shoot, from rich red (Alstroemeria Noize) to soft blushes (Estee and Tania) and clear white (Virginia), gave us a palette that felt both classic and contemporary, perfect for the season. The reds brought warmth and intensity, the blush tones added a gentle, romantic note, and the whites offered clarity and light, acting as a bridge between them. With their remarkable vase life, the designs will remain fresh long after the festivities begin, which is reassuring for both designers and clients.

Alstroemerias Deserve the Spotlight

These pieces are, ultimately, a celebration of a flower that deserves the spotlight. By stepping back and letting the alstroemeria shine, we found new stories within the blooms. Stories of resilience, beauty, and quiet confidence. For us, this project confirmed something we already suspected: when given space, Tesselaar's Alstroemerias are more than supportive flowers. They are statement makers in their own right, ready to carry an entire festive narrative from the first stem placed to the final candle extinguished.

FAQ

Who is Tesselaar Alstroemeria?

Tesselaar Alstroemeria is a family business in the Netherlands that has specialized in growing and breeding high-quality, sustainably produced Alstroemerias for decades, supplying florists and traders worldwide.

Why were Tesselaar Alstroemerias chosen for these festive designs?

Their strong stems, large flower heads, consistent quality, and long vase life made them ideal for sculptural, design-led festive work that needs to last in corporate and hospitality settings.

What are the key care tips for Alstroemerias in the shop?

Give stems a fresh, angled cut, place them in clean, cool water with professional flower food, and let them hydrate in a cool spot so the buds can color up without opening too fast.

How should consumers care for Alstroemerias at home?

Use a clean vase with fresh water and flower food, recut the stems by 2–3 cm, keep the flowers out of direct heat and sunlight, and remove any leaves below the waterline to keep the vase clean.

How long can Alstroemeria cut flowers last in arrangements?

With proper care and the right flower food, Alstroemerias can look good for several weeks, making them perfect for longer-running festive displays and repeat use in design work.
