Laura Draghici New Year Story

I can buy myself flowers. Because elegance begins the moment you choose for yourself.

At Chic Fleuriste, flowers are not just a gesture, but a statement of style and identity. At the threshold of the festive season and the New Year, we explore empowered femininity through a design built around the color Crimson Nocturne – intense, profound, and elegant.

This is the story of a bouquet chosen for oneself. Of a floral accessory worn with attitude. Of a new beginning where beauty is not awaited, but created.

My Choice for Winter Amaryllis

I can buy myself flowers, and for the winter season holidays, that choice often leads me to Amaryllis.

There is something inherently winter-appropriate about this bloom. Its tall, hollow stems rise with quiet strength, carrying flowers that open slowly, deliberately, as if aware of the season they belong to. Amaryllis does not rush. Each petal unfurls in its own time, revealing deep red tones that feel both festive and grounded, especially when paired with evergreen foliage. Pine, fir, or cedar add texture and scent, creating a dialogue between bloom and branch, softness and structure.

What makes Amaryllis particularly compelling in winter arrangements is its balance of presence and restraint. The flowers are large, even dramatic, yet they never feel excessive. Instead, they anchor a composition, offering clarity when much of the floral world is resting. In a season dominated by repetition and noise, Amaryllis introduces a sense of intention – a single bloom that can define an entire bouquet.

Choosing flowers for oneself is often misunderstood as indulgence, but with Amaryllis, it feels more like attentiveness. These stems invite observation. Their transformation over days becomes part of daily life: buds swelling, petals stretching wider, color deepening as light shifts throughout the room. Placed near a window, the bouquet changes with the hours, responding subtly to winter light that is pale, low, and fleeting.

Rather than serving as an ornament, the bouquet becomes a companion. It marks time gently, reminding us that winter beauty is not always loud or fleeting. Sometimes, it is slow, structural, and deeply reassuring. In choosing Amaryllis, we allow space for that kind of beauty to exist – calmly, confidently, and in its own light.

The Crimson Nocturne backdrop sets the scene: a dramatic, nocturnal shade that evokes the final hours of the year – that quiet moment of reflection when you decide what you will carry forward.

From this deep hue emerges a bouquet of Amaryllis Ferrari and Amaryllis Night Fever. Ferrari – bold, confident, unapologetically red. Night Fever – deep, refined, mysterious. Together, they become an extension of an inner state: courage, balance, feminine strength.

This bouquet is not received.
It is chosen.
An intimate gesture that says: "I know what I like. I know what I deserve."

Alongside it, a handmade floral tie, crafted from pine branches, cones, and Vanda Mocha orchids, introduces a contemporary contrast. Winter’s raw textures meet the warm exoticism of the Vanda, forming a piece that transcends gender and convention. It is an accessory that speaks of freedom of expression and of beauty worn as a manifesto.

The theme “I can buy myself flowers” takes on a deeper meaning here. It is not about demonstrative independence, but about a quiet confidence – the calm assurance of offering yourself what truly represents you. Flowers become a year-end ritual and a promise for the year to come.

Crimson Nocturne is not merely a color palette; it is a state of mind – the night in which you rediscover yourself, just before stepping into a new chapter.

FAQ

Who is Laura Draghici?

Laura Draghici is a Romanian floral designer and the founder and owner of Chic Fleuriste, a floral art studio based in Ploiești, Romania.

Before fully stepping into floristry, she built a long career in finance and banking, then made a deliberate shift into flowers, turning a personal habit of buying flowers for herself into a professional path. She says she began her floral career in 2013.

Chic Fleuriste is known for design work that goes beyond classic bouquets: floral jewelry, weddings and christenings, special event pieces, and themed collections are integral to the studio’s DNA.

In interviews, Laura has talked openly about her roots and how they shaped her work ethic. She was raised in what she calls a mathematics family, with both parents teaching math in Ploiești, and she did not initially see herself running a flower business.

During the pandemic, she shared that she had to close her floral studio for a time but continued to create from home using what she could source and grow, while continuing to enter competitions and build international connections for Chic Fleuriste.

She also appears regularly in industry and brand features, sharing design work and product experiences, including collaborations and showcases with big flower brands.

Why would someone choose Amaryllis for winter and holidays designs?

Because Amaryllis feels made for winter: tall, strong stems; blooms that open slowly; and deep reds that sit perfectly with evergreen greens, it brings presence without feeling too much.

It’s dramatic but controlled. The blooms are big and defined, yet the overall look stays clean and intentional. In a season that can get noisy, Amaryllis gives structure and focus.

Amaryllis doesn’t rush. The buds swell, petals unfold gradually, and the color deepens as the room light shifts. The bouquet becomes something you notice day by day, especially in winter light near a window.

What is ‘Crimson Nocturne’ in the blog?

It’s both a color setting and a mood: an intense, nocturnal crimson that matches that end-of-year pause, when you reflect and decide what you’re taking into the next year.

Crimson Nocturne is the Thursd Floral Trend Color for 2026.
