My third stop on the World of Spray Roses campaign is the Roseto-Florenza 2 farm in Nakuru, Kenya. Seeing a farm established just under four years ago already contributing to the spray rose revolution was inspiring. Founded in 2020, Florenza 2 is the youngest farm in the Roseto Group, a company that has grown a strong legacy in the floriculture industry.
The Roseto Group began its journey with Roseto Farm in Rongai at 1,950m altitude in 2014, followed by Sierra Flora in Elburgon at 2,250m. As a strategic expansion, Florenza 2, at 1,700m in Solai, was established to meet the growing demand for high-quality roses. Each farm operates at different altitudes, enabling the Roseto Group to cultivate a diverse range of flowers tailored to specific market needs. This thoughtful approach demonstrates their deep understanding of both floriculture and the ever-changing market dynamics while maintaining quality across its farms.
Spray Roses Cultivation at Roseto-Florenza 2 Farm
Florenza 2 dedicated six of its 14 hectares to Interplant's spray rose varieties, growing ten of them, namely; spray roses; Snowflakes, Good Mood Pink, Alycia, Piccanto, Orange Babe, and outstanding Red Dominica, known for their rich color, great head size, opening, and quality.
Diversity is at the core of Florenza 2’s operations. In addition to its six hectares of spray roses, the farm also grows three hectares of summer flowers and five hectares of intermediate roses. This broad cultivation strategy not only ensures a steady supply of flowers year-round but is also a great ingredient to value addition.
Florenza’s main export markets include the Middle East and the UK, where they are key ingredients in mixed bouquets for retail supermarkets.
“The World of Spray Roses has successfully showcased the spray roses versatility and beauty, making them increasingly popular among florists and retailers worldwide," shared Florenza 2's General Manager, Madhukar Balerao.
Farm’s Sustainability Efforts
As a Fair Trade-certified farm, Florenza 2, is committed to supporting the local community. They are currently constructing roads for improved accessibility and providing clean water to nearby residents, making a meaningful difference in the lives of those around them.
Visiting Florenza 2 confirmed that spray roses are a growing trend in floriculture. Spray roses’ multiple roses per stem offer unmatched versatility, adding volume and dimension to arrangements with ease. They’re a florist’s dream, requiring minimal effort to create maximum impact, whether in retail bouquets or high-end floral designs and consumers alike.
