A deciduous shrub that's also commonly known as royal purple smoke bus
Smoke bush, Cotinus coggygria, is a deciduous shrub that's also commonly known as royal purple smoke bush, smokebush, smoke tree, and purple smoke tree. Smoke bush is often used as a garden specimen thanks to its beautiful purple-pink smokey plumes and the purple leaves found on some cultivars.
The Cotinus comes from the wig tree family and is therefore also called wig tree. They are large, deciduous shrubs that look a lot like a tree because of their size. In addition to the warm appearance in the fall times, the shrub looks very beautiful in the months of June and July when the plant forms flowers. The flowers of this shrub have a wig-like appearance and thereby confirm their place in the wig-tree family. A nice addition to the garden and park for the fall and summer times.
