Stone Fruit Studio is a Toronto-based floral design studio founded by Renee Giroux and Kristen Sharpe. This week, they are part of the weekly florist special.

Renee Giroux and Kristen Sharpe Take Over Stone Fruit Florals

Stone Fruit Studio takes its name and creative philosophy from the stone fruit – soft and inviting on the outside, yet firm and unexpected at its core. This contrast defines the studio’s floral aesthetic, where the delicacy of flowers and their looks are combined with unconventional forms and playful compositions to create designs that celebrate individuality.

Founded in the spring of 2024, after more than 15 years of experience in the floral industry and a lifelong background in fine art, the studio was created with the intention of bringing imaginative floral artistry to Toronto. Its founders sought to offer creative concepts, rich palettes, and unconventional designs that reflect the city’s diverse creative community. Designed for artists, alternative spirits, lovers of all kinds, and those celebrating queer joy, Stone Fruit Studio creates floral arrangements intended to feel deeply personal – flowers they would be proud to share with friends, family, their community, and one another.

A Woman-Owned Business in Love With Flowers

As a queer, women-owned business, Stone Fruit Studio places diversity and inclusion at the center of its designs, honoring each individual’s path and perspective. The studio understands that every project begins with something deeply personal and works to translate that into floral design that feels grounded in honesty, care, and meaning.

Collaboration sits at the heart of the process. Stone Fruit Studio listens closely and engages in ongoing dialogue throughout each project, allowing ideas to evolve naturally and ensuring that the final work reflects the shared insights along the way. The focus remains on creating floral designs that carry sensibility, depth, and personal significance. Flowers are seen and treated as a form of storytelling. Arrangements become a way to express identity directly and honestly, with both girls committed to creating work that reflects each client’s story with clarity and care.

Wedding planning can often feel overwhelming, which is why this studio aims to make the floral design process as seamless and enjoyable as possible. Every project begins with a personalized consultation, typically held via video call, where the team explores the client's vision, discusses ideas, and offers creative guidance. Following the consultation, clients receive a detailed, itemized estimate outlining their floral and décor investment, providing a clear understanding of the proposed design and costs before moving forward.
