Eleven years ago, Bek Lee stepped away from a career in community health, feeling creatively stifled and ready for change. She spent a transformative year traveling through Central and Southeast Asia, the Americas, and Europe—an adventure that deepened her desire to work with nature, connect with people, and express herself through hands-on creativity. This calling led her to floristry.

After spending one of her years exploring her skills in London’s fast-paced events scene and later at a wedding venue in Melbourne’s Yarra Valley, she launched Tremella Botanicals, a floral studio focused on weddings, events, and artistic exploration.

Gentle Flowering by Bek Lee, Owner of Tremella Botanicals

Tremella Botanicals is a floral studio shaped by the evolving creative path of Bek Lee, who came to floristry through a search for more hands-on, connected work after years in the community health sector. What began as a shift in career soon became a deeper practice—one that combines personal intuition with a focus on form, mood, and natural rhythm. Bek’s style avoids excess and embraces thoughtful simplicity, informed by Eastern traditions like ikebana and a loose, sculptural approach more commonly seen in Western floral design.

The studio offers floral design for weddings, events, and editorial work, emphasizing seasonal materials, subtle texture, and unexpected combinations. Beyond flowers, Tremella is also a space for creative learning. The team hosts workshops, mentorships, and slow-paced retreats for those looking to explore floral design outside of a commercial mindset. With sustainability as an everyday consideration rather than a selling point, Tremella chooses local growers when possible, reuses materials thoughtfully, and makes space for design that feels intentional rather than rushed.

Much like its namesake—the Tremella mushroom—the studio reflects a quiet devotion to beauty, restoration, and nourishment through its floral work. Using flowers and a mix of natural elements, the practice centers on a calm, considered approach that values slowness, connection, and care. Its philosophy is based on working closely with nature and community, where intuitive design and sustainable choices guide both creative and everyday decisions.

Their dedication to eco-conscious practices goes in unison with maintaining a unique, editorial, and luxurious aesthetic. They make sure their floral creations and art align with the seasons by selecting local and premium flowers and curating an inventory of high-quality vessels. Additionally, they share their pride in being and creating floral foam-free designs since the beginning of Tremella's journey, composting all their green waste, and diligently reducing the use of plastics to ensure the environmental impact remains minimal.
