A floral studio known for its daring and creative flower arrangements is DĀDA ISLAND. The studio was established by Ling, a fashion-trained designer, and has grown to be a gathering place in Canguu, Bali, Indonesia, for creatives, florists, and customers seeking something different from the typical bouquet. Designs at DĀDA ISLAND are approached as an experiment in terms of shape, texture, and color, producing arrangements that defy convention and the possibilities for using flowers in design.
DĀDA ISLAND - A Possible Medium of Expression
Ling's dedication to non-traditional presentation is what catches the attention in her designs. Immediately, your eyes are drawn to what she creates because she fills everything up with contrasting color combinations that are just too good. She usually bases her arrangements on unusual containers, such as fruits, stones, bamboo, or even hats.

By doing this, every design turns into a combined design between flowers and natural materials, providing a visual experience that emphasizes originality, structure, and close-up details. To make sure that each piece is environmentally conscious, the studio uses bamboo, chicken wire, and other sustainable supports rather than floral foam.

Feeling the Tropicality in Designs
The studio’s design process reflects her fashion industry background. She considers balance, proportion, and movement in every arrangement, experimenting with asymmetry and layering to make each piece dynamic. While some florists focus on color coordination alone, DĀDA ISLAND incorporates flowers as part of a larger composition, integrating texture, shape, and unexpected elements to elevate the overall design.

The tropical environment of Bali plays a significant role in the studio’s work. Local flowers such as frangipani, orchids, and heliconia appear regularly in arrangements, highlighting textures and forms that are especially unique to the region. DĀDA ISLAND makes sure that every arrangement represents its surroundings by selecting flowers locally and focusing on seasonal availability. This allows the designer and her team to remain creative while providing clients with something that instantly connects them to Bali's natural environment.
During an interview, she was asked how her design process begins, to what she had to say:
"I start by selecting the colors and then the supplies. To make my arrangements special, I always like to include one specific component. Part of the procedure is selecting the appropriate one and experimenting with it."

Consequently, when asked about her style and the name of her brand, she said:
"I would say my style is very 'dada'. Named after the DĀDA art movement. I believe that there should be no limits or standards to flower art. That’s why I love to explore and use different objects as my vessels: fruits, stones, candle holders, even a hat."
Designs With Sustainable Principles Present
One of the main priorities is sustainability. DĀDA selects products and practices that lessen waste and their negative effects on the environment. The company promotes durable designs that clients may reuse or modify for various events, and arrangements are made to reduce disposable items. This strategy upholds high design standards while satisfying the growing demand for floristry that is environmentally conscious.

In addition to custom orders, they are a collaborative creative studio. Designers, florists, and event coordinators are encouraged to try out novel methods and work with odd materials. The studio is now a go-to place for everyone looking for new ideas and inspiration in tropical floristry.
