When it comes to bringing you the most exquisite flora for use in designs, Adomex International, the renowned Dutch importer and specialist in different types of decoration green and cut foliage, has perfected the art. Celebrated for their global distribution network, this floral supplier sources some of the most unique and exotic varieties, which they in turn supply to markets across Europe and elsewhere globally.
In their usual tradition of working with some of the best growers anywhere across the world to deliver these floral offerings, Adomex has partnered with Benev Flora, a Kenyan grower known for their exciting and attractive mix of flowers. Benev, in this regard, delivers some of the most remarkable Hypericum varieties that the Dutch supplier in turn distributes through the OrcaFloral label.
A Little Background of Benev Flora
Located in Naivasha, Benev Flora Ltd was founded by John Ndung’u, a trained agronomist. The 20-hectare farm sits at an altitude of 2,200 meters above sea level and produces some of the best quality flowers around. Their story is equally quite fascinating, just like the flowers that this grower produces. It all began with a spark of curiosity.

John says years ago while working as a vegetable agronomist—and not quite introduced yet to the world of flowers—he once spotted a unique flower he had previously not seen grown where he worked. He, of course, was attracted to the flower and admired it every time he passed where it was planted. Later, still curious yet charmed by it, he had an idea. He inquired about flower prices across the world, and well… promised himself that he would one day grow that very particular flower. And, as they say, that was just the beginning. The outcome was inevitable!
That was then. Years later, his idea materialized in the form of Benev Flora Ltd, which started small and focused on perfecting Hypericum cultivation. By 2023, the grower had expanded to nearly twenty hectares, employing at least two hundred employees, and had incorporated more varieties into its assortment.

Benev now specializes in the cultivation of varieties of Hypericum, Anigozanthos (kangaroo paws), and Lysimachia, producing an estimated 15 million stems of cut flowers each year. The flowers are tended by a workforce of three hundred people. Hypericum Magical Royal Princess, Magical Green Power, Magical Triumph, Magical Snow Prince, and Magical Seasons are the varieties of this flower grown on the farm. There are also varieties in the Anigozanthos Celebration Series including Anigozanthos Carnivale, Fireworks, Masquerade, and Aussie Spirit. Lysimachia Moonlight completes the list of the flowers grown by the Naivasha-based grower.

Partnership With Adomex for the Supply of the Colorful and Playful Hypericum
In Kenya, Adomex's OrcaFloral label's Hypericum is cultivated by Benev Flora Ltd, a grower who has expanded its global flower distribution footprint in recent years after initially exporting flowers exclusively through the Dutch auction. Benev Flora now delivers 75% of its exports through direct sales—the Dutch importer partners with the Naivasha-based grower in this cause.
John Ngung’u:
“One of our most valued customers is Adomex. Our partnership began in December 2021 when Eunice, our Sales Manager (at Benev Flora) was introduced to Adomex by a breeder at the International Flower Trade Fair (IFTF) in the Netherlands. Since then, the partnership has grown, with Adomex accounting for 11.74% of Benev Flora's production in 2024.”

Benev Flora primarily supplies Adomex with Hypericum. The grower delivers different varieties but particularly focuses on supplying flowers with big and bright berries, consistent berry sizes per stem, high berry counts, and quality stems with the perfect foliage. This has reinforced their relationship. Constant communication and excellent customer service have also been instrumental in this partnership, according to John.
The cultivation process for these Hypericum varieties requires careful management. The stems are then harvested and sorted according to their length. After processing the bunches are placed in the cold room to hydrate and cool before being packed in OrcaFloral sleeves and taken to the airport. The flowers, John reiterates, are always harvested fresh and processed by a qualified team. They go through thorough quality checks, are pre-cooled appropriately, packed in boxes, and cooled again before being dispatched for delivery. Quite a process, you’d agree!

And, since Benev Flora is strategically located, just slightly over two hours from Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International. The logistics part is easier. The trucks used for transport are refrigerated, and thus the flowers always reach the airport while still fresh and at cool temperatures, perfect for shipping.
Why Adomex Decided to Work With Benev Flora
Adomex chose to work with Benev Flora because the grower emerged as an ideal partner, aligning with their core pillars. Since the Dutch supplier is uncompromising when it comes to quality, the grower’s Hypericum was expected to meet OrcaFloral’s premium filler requirements. John’s strong agronomic experience, according to him, helped build a solid foundation for the farm, guaranteeing that the grower attained all the relevant certifications. In fact, Benev was among the first flower growers in their region to be awarded the KFC Silver for good agricultural practices compliance, ethical farming, and sustainable growing practices. The farm also holds Global GAP certification and is a member of Sedex, all of which contributed to its working with Adomex.

Benev Flora:
“Our commitment to quality, sustainability, and innovation sets us apart in the world of flower cultivation.”
Aside from these, Benev Flora guarantees an all-year-round supply of floral products, given Naivasha’s equatorial climate which offers twelve hours of daily sunlight and ideal year-round temperatures allowing the grower to produce flowers all through the year. This does away with seasonal gaps common with many growers elsewhere. This also means customers always have access to OrcaFloral-quality Hypericum. Plus, Adomex also values Benev Flora’s social initiatives, including fair wages, healthcare access for workers, and other community programs that the grower runs. These factors, among others, greatly contributed to the floral green importer working with the Kenyan grower.

As a result, Adomex supplies OrcaFloral Hypericum all year round, but the stems are most in demand during the winter season. Their range includes several varieties like Hypericum Magical Royal Princess, Magical Snow Prince, Magical Triumph, Magical Seasons, Magical Green Revival, and Magical Green Power, which they source from Benev Flora.
Hypericum Are the Flexible Stars in Floral Designs for Every Occasion
Hypericum, also known as St. John’s Wort, is a beautiful addition to bouquets and floral arrangements. Depending on the variety, the flower’s stems carry bunches of small berries in shades of red, pink, orange, green, white, or brown. This flower adds both color and volume to floral designs and arrangements in which it is used. It also infuses a playful touch to these arrangements.

Adomex International:
“This explains why florists and floral designers love this filler flower in their creations; it brightens up their floral designs, adding a splash of color and texture.”
In floral design, this flower is indispensable, offering near-infinite options to create arrangements for different seasons and themes. With their clusters of jewel-toned berries and resilient nature, these floral stars add texture, color, and volume thus leaving a lasting impression in designs.
They could, for instance, be used in spring arrangements to bring freshness when paired with tulips and hyacinths in designs, or in summer bouquets when combined with sunflowers and zinnias. For winter weddings, they add texture and even symbolism. Here, one could pair Hypericum Magical Snow Prince with white roses for timeless elegance, or use Hypericum Magical Royal Princess berries in bouquets to symbolize love.
Hypericum could likewise be used in corporate event designs, where its polished appearance signifies professionalism. In this case, the Hypericum Magical Green range’s luxuriant berries could complement minimalist designs, while Hypericum Magical Triumph’s burgundy tones could add depth to monochromatic setups. Mixed with flowers like orchids or calla lilies, it also produces sleek, modern arrangements for lobbies or gala tables.

For casual settings, Hypericum’s whimsy also speaks volumes. One could pair the Hypericum Magical Seasons with sunflowers or daisies for a cheerful home décor. Or contrast any of the varieties with soft petals such as roses and peonies, or structured foliage like Eucalyptus, or ferns, to create a dynamic visual and aesthetic interest. Whichever way, Hypericum always has a way with designs. And, with the flowers delivered from Benev Flora, Adomex guarantees that you have whichever Hypericum variety you’d fancy through the OrcaFloral assortment.
