myThursd and Gaétan Jacquet With De Ruiter Roses at Le Printemps Palladien

Tucked in the picturesque and lush Jura valley, France close to the Swiss border, the 'Le Printemps Palladien' floral festival occurred on May 11 and 12, 2024. Set against the architectural gem of the French villa, Château de Syam, this event combined magnificent floral exhibitions, professional conventions, rare plant markets, and floral showcases. The event was a huge success with 40K stems of flowers, as many plants, 80 florists, and 150 volunteers.

This festival is organized by Gaétan Jacquet, one of the early bird myThursd members. Gaétan is a fantastic floral designer and an even more loved blogger on Thursd.com. He created a project on myThursd for growers and breeders to pitch on and help him with the flowers needed to make his event a success.

De Ruiter Innovations is one of the companies that saw the possibility of showing off their flowers. With varieties in white like the wonderful scenting Rose Proud, Rose Epic White, and Mia, in pink the Rose Esperance, Opala, Mandala, the blush Rose Pomarosa, the popular Sandcastle, Rose Ever Pink, and Ever Red, and many new codes that found their way to France through FleuraMetz, these Kenyan and Dutch roses brought a story to the Castle of Syam: EmotionBloom.

The Palladian Villa

Build in 1818, the Château de Syam, known as 'La Villa Palladienne', is a residence with a square plan, centered on a peristyle of eight columns and three circular balconies, like a theater, in the spirit of the beautiful Italian villas of Master Andréa Palladio built in the 16th century.

Creating Flower Business

De Ruiter was founded in 1913 and has been working continuously on the breeding and improvement of the rose as a product. De Ruiter was originally a family business and has since grown into an organization of international renown in the breeding and propagation of numerous varieties of roses. So they saw an excellent opportunity to create a story and to give the roses a purpose at Gaétan's event. Le Printemps Palladien was not just a place to visit, it was an experience throughout the garden and villa.

From the warm reds of passion to the soothing whites of serenity, each part of the design offers a chance for introspection and renewal. As visitors make their way around, they can enjoy floral design telling a story dedicated to exploring the resilience of the human spirit. This story highlights the power of emotion to inspire courage, compassion, and connection in the face of adversity.

'EmotionBloom: A Rose Design Celebrating All Senses at Le Printemps Palladien'

Theme:

Within the confines of a circular open area encircled by a balcony, upstairs in the villa, 'EmotionBloom' invites visitors on a multisensory exploration of resilience and emotional expression. Through the language of color and the beauty of floral design, guests step on a transformative trip that brightens the spectrum of human experience.

Story:

As visitors look up to the balcony, they see a circle of color and fragrance. Each segment of the circle represents a different emotion, from joy and passion to sorrow and hope. The space is alive with the beautiful hues of roses, each bloom carefully selected to evoke a specific feeling and tell a unique story. Guests can discover corresponding rose colors that reflect the beauty and strength inherent in each feeling.

Message to the World: 'EmotionBloom' stands for light and transformation, reminding us that even in our darkest moments, there is beauty to be found in every shade of the human experience. It celebrates life in every aspect. By embracing all our feelings and finding strength in vulnerability, we can grow a deeper sense of connection and compassion for ourselves and others. Through the language of color and the beauty of floral design, the exhibition invites visitors to find all senses.
