Ever since its establishment in 1919, France-based family-owned Cyclamen specialist, Morel has held a legacy of breeding and producing some of the most top-quality Cyclamen available. Cyclamen Petit Moulin® Is a Double-Flowered Beauty
The breeding of Cyclamen Petit Moulin® comes as a result of the partnership between Morel and the Japanese flower company, Hirohara Flower Farm. In its efforts and commitment to expand its Cyclamen gene pool as well as the range of varieties it has to offer, Morel sought to partner with Hirohara, a pioneer in the flower breeding trade whose production of potted and cut flowers began way back in 1964.
Morel, therefore, sought to work with one of the Japanese flower company’s double-flowered population varieties, which is renowned for its remarkably long flowering period. The Japanese company began breeding these new double-flower types more than twenty years ago and, with the discovery of a genetic mutation in traditional varieties, developed the emblematic 'Green Tiara’ and ‘Screwstar’ varieties. These new double-flower types were unique in that they brought a new vision for Cyclamen; a quality that set them apart from the traditionally known centered varieties.
Thus, Morel combined the unique characteristics of Hirohara’s novel varieties with its own Cyclamen lines, in turn coming up with the novel Cyclamen Petit Moulin®. This is a robust and prolifically flowering F1 hybrid variety of the Cyclamen persicum, which has, by all means, been the result of years of work. It is such a pleasant flower, you’d admit, coming in a range of colors and shades that are just as aesthetically pleasing as they are unique.
Exceptional Qualities That Set Cyclamen Petit Moulin® Apart From the Rest
When it comes to flowers, color ranks high among the most desired qualities. And Cyclamen Petit Moulin® certainly does not disappoint in this regard. This innovative and long-lasting hybrid Cyclamen comes in a mix of colors including several shades of white with an eye, lilac with an eye, and pink with an eye. There are, also, shades of salmon and magenta that may be available in the mix.
These beauties possess an exceptionally long flowering period of more than 100 days, which is well above average. Their flowers' longevity is due particularly to their lower pollen content, thus less likely to be pollinated. This explains their remarkable outdoor performance.

While the double flowers may be ideal for indoors, the varieties in this series are especially suited for natural outdoor floral arrangements. When in bloom, these flowers spread out naturally around the circumference of the plant, thus enchanting with their quantity and, as you already know by now, the exceptional longevity of the blooms.
Further to these, Cyclamen Petit Moulin® has an original and unique shape, a prolific flowering habit, and excellent qualities that would make it ideal for terraces and patios. They can be grown easily in 15 cm pots with two seedling plugs, and the crop time from sowing comes in 32–34 weeks.
