Countdown to Proflora 2025 - Why the Global Flower Industry is Heading to Bogotá

Proflora's uniqueness lies in the fact that it’s an industry-wide experience. This trade show begins on September 30th with exclusive farm tours for international buyers, continues with three days of exhibition at Corferias, Bogotá, from October 1–3, and concludes with the Skills and Abilities contest on September 4th. The contest highlights the skills of the workers who allow Colombian flowers to reach more than 100 countries. But why are hundreds of people flying over to Bogotá for this event? Proflora is one of the most eagerly awaited events of the year, because of its ability to transform every encounter into an opportunity. It is the perfect stage to connect with industry leaders and experts, discover the latest trends shaping the sector, and explore new paths for growth and collaboration.

The journey begins on Tuesday, September 30th, with exclusive farm tours for international flower buyers. Three curated routes across the Savannah of Bogotá will highlight Colombia’s unmatched richness: La Plazoleta (Alstroemeria, Antirrhinum, Statice, Limonium, and Solidago) and Geoflora (carnations, spray carnations,  Alstroemerias, Florincas, Ranunculus, and Anemones); Ayurá (roses and carnations) and Alexandra Farms (garden roses, Dahlias, Tweedia); or Cultivos del Norte (Chrysanthemums and roses) and Don Eusebio (carnations and Green Ball). These tours are a firsthand look at why Flowers of Colombia are recognized globally for their quality, sustainability, and diversity. 

On Wednesday, October 1st, Proflora will open with an inspiring ceremony at 10:00 AM, followed by three full days of exhibitions and high-level networking until Friday,  October 3rd. The fair will close with an invitation-only celebration at Andrés D.C., one of Bogotá’s most iconic venues.

Innovation That Defines Worldwide Trends

A highlight of this edition is the 'Outstanding Varieties Competition', with 427 registered entries across 19 categories, presented by both breeders introducing new varieties and producers portraying high-quality in cultivation. In total, 55 companies are registered this year, underscoring their relevance.

This mix makes the competition a contest and shows a snapshot of the industry’s future. In one space, the world can discover the creativity, innovation, and diversity that Flowers of Colombia inspire, while identifying the must-have varieties that will lead global markets in 2026 and beyond.

Opportunities for Everyone - From Small to Large Producers  

For the second consecutive edition, 11 small Colombian producers affiliated to Asocolflores will exhibit at stand 710. A 96-square-meter space that highlights their talent, resilience, and commitment to quality. Their presence reflects Proflora’s essence: a platform where both large exporters and small growers can showcase their work and contribute to the growth of the global flower industry.

Although the fair officially closes on October 3rd, the celebration doesn´t stop there. On September 4th, Proflora dedicated a special day to honor the more than 200,000 workers who make Colombian floriculture possible. The Skills and Abilities Contest brings together workers from across the country to demonstrate their expertise in categories such as 'empiole', disbudding, cutting point, pompon, and carnation cutting, bouquet assembly, and classification.
