A Glimpse at 22 New Cut Rose Varieties
If you are not yet a rose lover, you will surely become one after seeing the gorgeous roses from Jan Spek Rozen. There specialty is to develop roses for professional growers all around the world. South America, East Africa, and Europe are his main target markets, but our varieties are found all over the globe. With a focus on quality, innovation, and perfection, Jan Spek Rozen is always keen to create new varieties that will blow you away. Erik Spek, the current generation within the company, recently visited the shows/test house in Kenya and shared the latest varieties.
"Two weeks ago we visited our show/test house in Naivasha (Kenya) and the crops looked absolutely stunning, thanks to the perfect care provided by NINI (Herburg Roses). We were incredibly impressed with how ‘our’ latest seedlings appeared. It’s always fascinating, as the climate here differs significantly from our greenhouses in Boskoop."
From their most recent trials, 22 promising rose varieties have advanced into the next selection rounds (the 22 codes).
Erik continues,
"We’re also gaining greater confidence in our white variety, Rose MONT ROYAL®. Our ‘mother stock’ has shown excellent growth, and the enthusiasm among the trial plants delivered to numerous Kenyan and Ethiopian growers has been truly encouraging for the future of this variety."
