When wedding season hits its peak, florists often find themselves deep in petals, palettes, and pressure. But every once in a while, a single rose reshapes the entire creative experience. That for me was the Rose Mont Royal from the breeder Jan Spek Rozen.
Recently, I had the pleasure of working with Mont Royal roses for the first time during a wedding editorial shoot in the peaceful town of Talia, Estonia. The setting was serene, the light soft and natural — the perfect canvas for a flower that exudes purity and poise. What made this project even more special was how it came to life through the myThursd Meetup Spot, an incredible platform that bridges creatives and brands for purposeful floral collaborations.
A Rose That Commands the Spotlight
Rose Mont Royal isn't just another white rose. It’s a variety that knows its value and performs with undeniable grace. From the moment the stems arrived, I could tell I was working with something truly premium. The rose boasts an impeccable structure: sturdy stems, a perfectly white tone without a hint of cream or blush, and petals that unfold slowly and fully — a designer's dream for both texture and timing.

Its vase life exceeded expectations, remaining fresh and open throughout the shoot day. But beyond its technical strength, it was the visual presence of Mont Royal that truly left a mark. The rose carried the entire floral story on its shoulders — confidently, effortlessly.
Designing the Bridal Moment With Mont Royal
The mood board for this shoot was anchored in minimalism and intentional beauty. We leaned into an all-white palette to allow Mont Royal to stand at the center of each floral moment. For the bridal bouquet, I chose to pair these roses with airy sprigs of white astrantia and soft limonium. The composition felt ethereal and timeless — a bouquet that captured the quiet intimacy of a bride’s morning without overshadowing her presence.

Mont Royal added structure, dimension, and just enough drama. It wasn't loud — it was eloquent.
Simple Forms, Lasting Impressions
For the reception concept, I designed centerpieces that revolved around a candelabrum base. The idea was to let the roses guide the arrangement — no distractions, just intentional beauty. The open Mont Royal blooms reflected the candlelight in the most enchanting way, casting soft shadows and warmth across the table. It created a feeling of intimacy and mystery — the kind of ambiance every event stylist hopes to capture.

A Floral Experience Worth Repeating
What struck me most during this project was how naturally Mont Royal elevated every piece it touched. There’s a confidence to this rose — it doesn't compete with other flowers; it invites them to rise to its level. Whether in a structured bouquet or a flowing tablescape, Mont Royal holds space with both elegance and ease.

The opportunity to work with this variety through myThursd Meetup Spot made the experience even more meaningful. It was a reminder of how impactful collaborations can be when creatives and floral brands come together with a shared vision. In this case, to showcase a rose that speaks the language of weddings fluently.
For any floral designer looking to make a lasting impression at weddings or high-end events, Mont Royal is more than just a flower — it’s a statement. A statement of refinement, of quality, and of beauty that doesn't need to shout to be heard.
