What to Expect at the Open Days
As De Ruiter East Africa welcomes you to visit their nursery in Naivasha to witness and experience their vast assortment of standard and spray roses, you can anticipate a vibrant showcase of both traditional favorites and the latest novelties. So, here’s a line-up of some of those varieties to expect.
Rose Revolution®
This rose is the talk of the industry! The vibrant red rose boasts a bud length of up to 5 cm, stems reaching 70 cm, and an amazing 16-day vase life. Its fiery hue symbolizes passion, while its robust performance makes it a grower’s dream. Rose Revolution®, essentially, isn’t just a rose; it is a statement.

As Rohit Patil puts it:
“Rose Revolution® is a very interesting bright red since it perfectly matches the specs of the retail market and looks interesting for high altitude cultivation as well.”
Grower Shalimar Fresh has planted the first commercial planting of this variety, and several other growers are currently doing it as well.
Rose AlpinaRosa®
This is a new white variety, which is a perfect fit for the retail market. It is productive, has a thin bud, and gives good lengths. Also, this rose has a moderate thorn density. Currently, there are some commercial trials being conducted for this variety.

Rose Frutteto®
Rose Frutetto is a delicate, medium-pink bloom that opens graciously into a perfect rose. This baby pink T-hybrid is already grown by well-known growers in Kenya such as Timaflor and Lobelia, and has been doing well in high-altitude areas. Its blush-pink core, combined with its crisp green outer petals, radiates a unique sparkle and displays the subtlest curl at the tips when open. Rose Frutteto’s unquestionable charm stems from its unassuming beauty and elegance. It is a highly versatile rose that works well with a wide array of tones, and florists will find it handy in different varieties of bouquets, mono bunches, and various other arrangements.

Rose Shamita®
Shamita means 'peacemaker' in Hindi, and this is exactly what is embodied in this rose. Its meaning precisely matches its beautiful calming hues. Rose Shamita is a light pink variety with a compact head size that opens very well. It is an easy-to-work-with botrytis-tolerant rose. Moreover, this rose has no problem on the road as its almost cylindrical shape increases the packing efficiency and the stems rest fine in a box. Basically, with Rose Shamita, you’ll hardly be disappointed, as it is a perfect fit for practically any arrangement.

Rose Trivia®
Rose Trivia is a thornless productive light pink beauty of a rose. Its slightly green petals on the outside and its blush creamy pink insight petals create such a soft and warm feeling. This variety is a must-have for your bridal bouquets and romantic floral art, especially, since on opening up, the colors do not fade. Rose Trivia is already grown on many farms in Kenya.

Spray Rose Pink Dimension®
This is a dark pink spray rose that has been De Ruiter's most popular spray for quite some time now and continues to gain popularity among the different sprays available. There are several farms already growing it, and even more growers still showing a keenness in it. Spray Rose Pink Dimension is strong and has many elegant flowers in one stem. Plus, the color just brings delight and cheerfulness. Its model qualities, definitely, play a key role in its growing popularity.

Spray Rose Peach Dimension®
This is a relatively new variety of spray roses. And, according to Rohit, there is significant interest in this variety because of its beautiful color and the number of buds on each stem. The rose’s color perfectly fits a bridal theme, making this variety ideal for weddings.

There will definitely be many more varieties available for showcase during the Open Days. That means you have to be physically present to experience the beauty of the vast assortment available at De Ruiter East Africa. So mark the date: February 19th to 21st, 2025. We look forward to meeting you.
