For three days this October, Bogotá became the beating heart of the global flower industry. Proflora 2025 took over the Corferias convention center, bringing together breeders, growers, floral industry suppliers, and buyers from across the world.
As in every edition, the fair was not just a marketplace but a stage for innovation, a meeting point for business, and a celebration of Colombia’s leadership in floriculture. Here is what happened at Proflora 2025.
Proflora: Explore, Connect, Experience the Magic
This international event, organized by Asocolflores, set the worldwide trends for the 2025–2026 season and brought together more than 7,000 visitors and 300 companies from 60 countries.

The official theme — Explore, Connect, Experience the Magic — proved to be more than a tagline. It guided everything from the farm tours the day before the official opening of the event to the competitions, technical sessions, and evening gatherings. By the time the fair began, nearly every exhibitor space was sold out, underscoring the appetite for face-to-face connection in an industry where trust and personal relationships are still key. With thousands of visitors from more than sixty countries and hundreds of exhibitors from around the globe, the show once again confirmed its reputation as the most important floriculture event in the Americas.
Pre-Event Farm Tours
The pre-event started on Tuesday with early morning buses leaving Bogotá for farm tours in the surrounding Savannah area. For many international buyers, these visits are the highlight of Proflora, offering a chance to walk the fields, see how flowers are grown, and understand the sustainability efforts behind every stem.
Certification programs, worker well-being initiatives, and environmentally conscious practices were visible everywhere. The tours are a reminder that Colombian growers are not only about scale and quality but also about social and environmental responsibility.

Spacious Halls for Great Displays
Inside the fair itself, the atmosphere was lively. The spacious halls offered the stands plenty of space to present themselves to visitors, displaying the full range of Colombian production.

Naturally, there was no way around the many roses. But also, carnations are clearly on their way back to the center of attention. The palette was completed with products like Hydrangeas, Chrysanthemums, Limoniums, Dahlias, Alstroemerias, and an expanding assortment of tropicals and foliage.

The sense of diversification was clear. Growers and breeders are pushing boundaries, testing new colors, forms, and species to respond to evolving market demands. For smaller producers, grouped booths offered a chance to share the spotlight with industry giants, ensuring that innovation and opportunity were accessible across the value chain.

Outstanding Varieties Competition
An important place in the show was given to the Outstanding Varieties Competition, the benchmark for spotting tomorrow’s favorites. The event honored the most outstanding varieties, highlighting their innovation, quality, and beauty. This year, 56 companies presented 436 varieties, showcasing the diversity and creativity of the Colombian floriculture sector.
Grand Champion was Flores El Capiro with their Chrysanthemum Baltazar Candle.
The Breeder Champion was HilverdaFlorist with Alstroemeria Monza.

In the category Grower Champion, the prize went to Flores El Capiro again with their Chrysanthemum Baltazar Candle.
Finally, the People’s Choice Award Winner was SB Talee de Colombia with a beautiful standard Dianthus Burgundy White.

Technical Informative Sessions
Parallel to the exhibition, technical sessions drew strong audiences. Topics like controlling Botrytis, strategies for thrips management, and the growing use of biological controls sparked engaged discussions. Technology also had its moment, with sessions on artificial intelligence and image analysis pointing to how data is becoming increasingly important in floriculture. Logistics and supply chain optimization were also on the agenda, reflecting the industry’s constant search for efficiency and resilience.

But beyond the products and the science, Proflora 2025 was also about people. In the aisles, at the coffee stations, and during evening receptions, deals were initiated, partnerships strengthened, and friendships renewed. Exhibitors repeatedly emphasized that Proflora is less about one-time orders and more about building the trust that underpins long-term business. That human element is what sets the fair apart from other international trade shows.
Colombia Is on the Move
What Proflora also made clear is that Colombia is on the move. A lot of good initiatives are happening to increase not just the business results, but definitely also the welfare of the workers and the well-being of Mother Nature. Sustainability is no longer an optional add-on.

In this sense, Proflora is a mirror of global consumer expectations, where traceability and ethical sourcing are increasingly part of the conversation.
Augusto Solano, President of Asocolflores:
“Proflora is a clear example of the effort and success of Colombian flower growers and reflects their ability to adapt to the changing challenges of international markets and contexts. The quality and representativeness of our attendees confirm this. We are delighted to welcome so many countries to be a hub for international business, and to strengthen the sector’s global connections.”

By the time the closing celebration began, the sense of achievement was already palpable. Colombia had once again shown the world its capacity to organize a world-class trade fair, to lead in quality and innovation, and to bring together an industry that depends as much on human connection as it does on beautiful products. What remains now is to record the final figures, crown the winners of the competition, and gather the best stories from participants.

Proflora 2025 may have just ended, but its impact will stretch far beyond Bogotá. The varieties that stood out here will find their way into bouquets worldwide, the relationships formed will shape business for years, and the message of sustainability will continue to guide the future of floriculture.
And the world is invited again in 2 years from now, from 22-24 September 2027.
