Marginpar has always been known for its exceptional flowers. And while at it, their prospects continue on an upward trend. The grower has achieved quite a lot (across their different locations globally) while delivering some of the most exquisite flowers one would think of.
As such, at this year’s HortiFlora Expo 2026, which runs from March 24 – 26 at Addis International Convention Center in Addis Ababa, the grower’s Ethiopian chapter is expected to be quite an attraction. Their booth A4.27 is just the perfect place for anyone keen on experiencing the full range of their Ethiopia-grown flowers... and their other feats.
Marginpar’s Ethiopian Operations
Marginpar’s Ethiopian operations are clustered near Holeta in Ethiopia’s Oromia Region, west of Addis Ababa, at around 2,500 meters above sea level, where a highland climate (cool nights and mild days) gives their specialty summer flowers a distinct quality advantage for global markets.
The grower runs three production facilities that function as one farm, run by one farm manager, one production manager, and also just one post-harvest manager. These sites focus on high-altitude summer flowers, like varieties of the Eryngium Questar® series, Astrantia Star® series, Agapanthus, Ammi, Daucus, Helleborus, and Sanguisorba.
At this location, the flowers derive advantage from the cooler conditions to develop strong stems, intense colors, and reliable vase life that exporters and florists prioritize, while enhancing the Marginpar Ethiopian product range, offering the market a lot more to choose from.
The ongoing development of their Ethiopian operations shows Marginpar’s long-term interest in the country's horticulture. The grower has phased development of new hectares and close collaboration with breeding partners to trial and scale varieties suited to local conditions. They also recently commissioned an on-site pack-house, addressing the previous need to transport flowers to the central pack-house for grading. This has significantly improved logistics, efficiency, and quality protection from harvest through to cold-chain loading.
People, Sustainability, and Processes
Sustainability and social responsibility are important pillars for Marginpar Ethiopia (just like the rest of their operations elsewhere). The Ethiopian operations are MPS-A, MPS-SQ, EHPEA, and GLOBALG.A.P-certified, showing the grower’s commitment to environmentally responsible production and strong health, safety, and working-condition standards for their value-adders.
Still, a lot has been happening along these lines in the past few months. Fresh from receiving 100% Floriculture Sustainability Initiative (FSI) compliance, all Marginpar flowers now fully meet sustainability requirements and come from a place that is certified according to internationally recognized environmental and social standards.
Given that the grower’s Ethiopian sites together cover about 60 hectares of cultivated land, all running with a strong emphasis on continuous improvement through the Kaizen method and the internal Hamuka culture (just like in their Kenyan farms' operations), it is not hard to see why Marginpar has achieved the recent feat.

Production targets have also grown (and continue to), with Marginpar Ethiopia working towards an excess of 34 million flower-stem production a year from the Ethiopian cluster alone. Quite a lot is happening for the grower!
