Special Days
5 year anniversary Thursd

Time flies and it's inevitable. The thing is: what do you do with that time? For team Thursd, it's been creativity, challenges, innovation, inspiration, and connection since 2019. This year marks Thursd's 5th Anniversary and what has happened throughout the year has been nothing short of spectacular in so many ways. To celebrate the milestone of being the world's largest floral meetup spot that shares passion and love for flowers and plants and how they're good for you, here are some of our all-time favorite articles that are definitely worth the read (and will maybe get you on board on Thursd!)

Cheers for 5 Years of 'Thursd is Good for You' and for the Years to Come

As a team, there's nothing we love more than creating altogether. Creating pieces about plants and flowers, their endless benefits for better well-being, artistic floral inspiration, floral design around the world, product launches, relevant and interesting news happening worldwide in the industry, and much more is what we're passionate about.

With a now expanded team of twelve, each Thursd member has an important value and function that makes the platform what it is: a space to connect and share with floral lovers around the world. In honor of our 5th anniversary, sharing some of our most special and loved articles (although there are many, many other favorite ones) is our way of celebrating and giving thanks to everyone who has been a part of Thursd and has contributed and inspired us.

Editor-in-Chief Arnold Wittkamp shares one of his faves by saying:

"The most remarkable thing we have done with Thursd was in the beginning when we did a series of interviews throughout Europe about being gay in the Floral world. Unfortunately, the other two founders are no longer present, but they played a large part in the development and creation of Thursd.com. With big dreams and big ideas.

One of these big ideas came to fruition when we conducted interviews about being gay as a floral designer in the flower industry.

We have a fantastic industry that, even in countries where it is difficult, or in some cases, even dangerous, to be gay, in the flower industry, it is kind of accepted everywhere when you're publicly gay. Even in these 'dangerous' countries, take a moment to think about that.

This is awesome."

Continuing with featured favorite articles, Marcel de Romph (Managing Editor), Edwin Kirwa (Success Manager), and Regine Motmans (Floral Business Connector) at Thursd happily share some of what they think are articles and blogs that made them happy while sharing their love for plants and flowers with the world.

Marcel shares that one of his favorites was a blog he created back in 2022 providing '8 Steps Towards Effective Content Marketing in Floriculture'. This is one of his favorite parts about writing for Thursd as he can create both insightful and more informational articles.

Not only that, but he is greatly inspired by floral artists and another of his faves is Azuma Makoto's floral installations and art. Read the article 'Get Submerged Into Azuma Makoto’s Latest Botanical Sculpture in Japan’s Deep Sea' to know more.

Edwin on the other hand, has now six months working full time as the Customer Success Manager for both Thursd and myThursd Meetup Spot. He couldn‘t be happier about the growth of Thursd over the years and is glad to be part of the amazing company nowadays. With this eagerness, he has had the opportunity to write articles as well.

Some of his favorites include his first-ever SEO article about the meaning and symbolism of sunflowers and right from the start it performed well and made him happy. Way to go, Ed! Because on Thursd we share the love for plants and flowers, Edwin highlighted a very insightful article that will leave you thinking why plants matter so much and how they also have feelings. Read the article 'Who Said Plants Don't Have Feelings?'

Regine celebrates these 5 years on Thursd by sharing what inspires her to create when it comes to flowers. She shares:

"The articles I like the most… that’s a really difficult question. I honestly have to say that the diversity of what Thursd talks about, is the thing I love the most. As well in what I do for Thursd, as in what we are reading. I don’t want to choose, but here are a few highlights that are worth reading again."

"Every year Thursd announces its Floral Trend Color of the Year. I love to be with my head in the future and figure out what the trends will be. Floral Industry will agree with me: Sky Blue has been very popular so far this year, especially in wedding and event industry. Many times combined with white, but also often with the Peach Fuzz from Pantone."

"I also like the stories about the world of growing flowers. Every flower culture is different, the rich history of countries and people, and how they work, is a story I want to get out there. And flowers and plants are everywhere in the world. Read about our video crew in Kenya and  enjoy."

Additionally, Regine comments that competitions, events, and exhibitions, and covering everything about it are one more thing we are really good at with Thursd. Just search for the Interflora World Cup on Thursd and you will find all there is to know about the competition that took place in Manchester last year. A special on each competitor, every task, workshop, experience, finals, and the winners. You can find everything on our platform.

Some of the Editors' Picks

Brian Okinda and Melissa Maingot, Editors of Thursd are thrilled to celebrate this 5-year journey with the team, and with this, they want the world to know what Thursd is about and what the team is able to create.

Brian:

"Wow, there are so many articles I wish I could include in this list because they are all so amazing and so much work has been put into each one because we really do love flowers and plants so much."

Personally, he loved a few blogs and articles starting with her colleague's most recent blog about Visiting Colombia, the Land of Flowers, and how Melissa's experience was over there. Not to mention this is indeed one of her favorites as well!

An article written by Brian himself was about the '75 Years of Keukenhof - A Dutch Tradition That’s More Than Just a Floral Magnus Opus'. For him, the process of researching when writing it opened up his mind to a lot more. It enhanced his knowledge of this event and many others.

Last but not least, Melissa, another one of Thursd's editors. She is all about visuals, art, and creativity. She is very keen on showing the world the beauty of flowers and plants through articles that have to do with floral art, floral design, fashion, and overall, showing pictures that wow while inspiring the audience with what is possible when using flowers and plants.

She also loves to share news and events happening in the industry so no one misses out! Some of her personal favorites are 'Seeing Lupin Flowers at Lake Tekapo in New Zealand Is a Must' and 'Thierry Lechanteur at the Intersection of Photography and Artificial Intelligence'.

Although there are hundreds of other articles we'd like to share to celebrate this huge milestone, the best idea is to visit Thursd's website and search for any topic or inspirational idea and you'll find it. Cheers for what is to come and thank you all for being a part of our journey!
