About Fa. Freek van der Velden
Fa. Freek van der Velden is a member of Decorum. Like all other members, this grower is carefully selected with one aim: to grow plants of the highest quality under the brand name of Decorum. The Fa. Freek van der Velden Nursery has specialized in the cultivation of pot gerberas for around 25 years. Now they are increasing their cultivation of seasonal products, like the helleborus Christmas Carol, poinsettia, garvinea, and from 2020 also Cheeky garvinea. For the owners Freek and Martin van der Velden, the fostering of quality products takes priority. This becomes evident in the cultivation process. From cutting through to mature plant, father and son keep a close watch on the process, and if needed, adjustments are made daily to produce top-quality plants. Careful grading is done to meet the customers’ different wishes. For example, the gerbera 12cm comes in 40 different categories. For gerbera, helleborus, and garvinea, only the best plants are supplied under the Decorum label. Along with growing quality plants, the environment is an important issue for our company. Fa. Freek van der Velden wants to burden the environment as little as possible, reuse the water, separate waste, and generate our own energy. And naturally, we employ biological crop protection. Because the nursery has been certified by both Productproof and MPS-SQ, we can supply the sustainable Decorum Feel Green brand. For Freek and Martin, every order is important, whether it concerns one tray or one trailer.
