About Uhuru Flowers

Freedom

Uhuru, which means "freedom" in the Kiswahili language, is situated on the northern slopes of Mt Kenya near the town of Timau. The farm is at an altitude of 2,600 meters above sea level, making it one of the highest rose farms in Kenya.

High Altitude

The high altitude combined with the latitude (just a few kilometers from the equator) allows Uhuru to produce premium quality roses all year round. The farm has a small but experienced management team led by Ivan Freeman, who has been growing roses in this area of Kenya since 1998. Their aim is to produce consistent high-quality cut roses with large head size, excellent vase life, and presentation. The roses assortment includes a special range of scented roses.
